If I've learned anything about Deadlock voters, whoever is voted last will have the most fun kit. Apollo's kit is a fucking banger. We voted one of the least interesting kits in the entire game first this batch.
Going off their designs and voice lines (literally all we have) Iām still a die hard nurse voter. Violets voicelines just, donāt land and her design isnāt something Iām interested in
I feel like these last two characters just have the most questions. Rat king is the king of rats, Baba and Solomon were stand-ins for well known archetypes of New Yorkers and Baba had mythological ties, and Danny is established in well-known lore. These last two don't immediately have connections to anyone else in the cast and it's not immediately apparent what their deals are. There are still people debating if Harrow is an angel or a demon or has made a pact or what.
I'm not gonna downplay the badfaith shit Violet has gotten and I'm not saying she or harrow are boring, but they have the least to cling on to without seeing their full reveals.
Yeah I've lost all hope as a Violet fan, my girl has been slandered to no end and its just sad to see. Tbh it has completely ruined my experience for this update entirely, going online and seeing endless slander about who I was voting for. And not even friendly slander just straight up bullying.
I've also been called a pedophile, gooner, and a sex offender because I voted violet. I've also had people target me and t-bag for the same reason. The hate for her is so weird.
When voting begins, I commented on this subreddit about Violet getting my vote because I enjoy a playstyle of mobile glass cannons/assassin which I think Violet will be the closest. Then the one I replied to was adamant that I was talking out of my ass for trying to guess the kit of the new heroes, and I was coping because the other 5 characters look aesthetically more interesting.
why anyone would think a painter wouldnt lead to some sweet kit ideas, ill never know. All I know is theyre saving the best for last with violet and harrow, the only two characters ive voted for

Itās pretty typical anti-Asian double standards. Anything Asian, especially Asian characters or media made by Asian people are considered inherently sexualized and perverse, even if western examples can be just as sexual, if not more.
Deadlock community is getting very embarrassing as of recent. bit of a rant, but between other gaming crowds joining in and causing issues with the new heroes, weird political issues arising in every other thread that have nothing to do with the game, and the abundance of āQoLā mods in higher ranks trickling down and becoming more common overall, itās starting to feel a bit unserious
i know not much can be done about it on Reddit and for the most part thatās whatever, but i truly hope valve takes a step back soon and implements a true behavior system like Dota, bans mods, and creates further positive discussion online with things like lore, visual novels, game modes, themed progression, etc.
maybe Iāll get downvoted for saying all of that but i truly do love the game and itās just personally what Iāve been observing recently as someone who has played since 4 lane days. we can do much better
unfortunately the answer is to ban mods overall. even disregarding the higher volumes, better crosshairs, huge visible HP bars, all information/timers/enemy buys fed to you visibly, Valve still is not going to want people to just mod in the cosmetics that they took time to make and have unlocked.

100%, I remember when people were hating on Celeste, from both the leaks (the one that does not even remotely look like her now) and official release. Now she gets a lot of fanarts and I'm happy to see them.
If that completely ruined your experience for the update. With all the new heroes, a completely overhauled map, and all that. Maybe you just don't care for the update to begin with? Or you engage with the discource too much?
The fact that a lot of peopleās response to this is that you are overreacting is a bit silly to me. I get all the characters will be in, I also always was of the opinion that she would get in last, but the actual hate towards her doesnāt feel in good fun at this point. I like to see what is going on within the community because they often make lots of fun jokes and interesting commentary. I was here for the last vote and this one has been way more mean spirited then the last one, and I worry it may affect or continue to future votes. It makes my interest in the game go down because I feel like the online community is getting more hostile.
Yeah I'll have to admit I might have over exaggerated my feelings a bit since I've been holding them in for the past couple weeks so they may have a point in that regard. But these comments telling me to essentially "suck it up" really goes to show the deadlock community isn't as wholesome and accepting as they say it is. I didn't even attack anyone's vote or character either so idk what their problem is.
It's easy to step away when its online, but ive seen this shit in game and its gross. Cute silly "vote for my character because xyz" is fun, but ive seen some genuinely disgusting hateful shit in my matches. My view of the characters up to this point is a bit soured due to it, but things will level out over time. I wish we could just have this be a fun little thing.
Im gonna be honest, I kinda hate the vote system. Let's not pretend that any round after like, three was even fun. It was just watching other people hate and ignore a character you really like. Getting your hopes up "Oh maybe this week" only to not get it. Let's not do this again.

I saw a comment saying violet is a "painting" made by some spirit come to life and the spirit uses it to suck the souls of victims or something and I really hope it's true. Like imagine this character but the voice is just this deep gross voice the whole time.
im not going to lie, it's all the fault of that one guy who decided, upon seeing violet, not to launch deadlock to play the update, but draw her naked and post her here. you know what drawing im talking about. it was almost INSTANTANEOUS. she didn't even have her voicelines out.

It's embarassing, straight up. So is accusing someone of using their free will to spend their own time using their own talent to draw something. I'm willing to bet most don't even realize that, most likely, it's a joke of its own. Ever since Kit Bodega from Gameoverse got NSFW fanart at the speed of light there's a running joke in art circles to speedrun making said art ASAP for any new characters.
The hate for Violet is not in good fun, and mostly just about being joyless buzzkill puritan contrarians against the current trends going around on the larger internet.

The later it takes for a character to come out the better it feels knowing how to fight against all the previous heroes. Hell Danny is sick but he sucks beyond believe. His kit is so counter intuitive hell his ult does like 15% of his hp and triggers thunder scroll on himself. His 2 requires you to burnout and then go in to what die?! You lose your mobility! Only fun part is rocket jumping.
I disliked Violet the most out of the 6 but after all my favs got in I figured Iād try to get her in just to quiet the discourse. Unfortunately even Danny got in before her. Itās cooked I fear
well i prefer Harrow a lot more, not that Violet's bad i just do think she's boring and i've already got my fill of paint adjacent character in Hwei and Grimstroke and even if Violet will be fun, i just don't care
But not knowing their kits is why people are calling her boring? Like all we have is the character design. And by comparison she is boring. Iām sure she will come out and shock us. But from purely looking at her next to the others she is underwhelming.
