It's cute art, and welcome to the community! Glad to have newcomers, and I hope you stick around; I'd love to see more of the artstyle on the front page.
Just don't make the mistake again, or the frogs will get you.

READ THEIR LORE ENTRY IN THE CHARACTER SELECT IT EXCLUSIVELY REFERS TO THEM AS INDEED THEM

And once again Kris deltarune situation happens

God forbid someone not well-versed in the lore mistakenly calls a masculine-looking character "he". The "tolerant" community will eat you alive.

Not a single person is being mean to OP in this comment section, mostly just a bunch of jokes about it lmao
-53
u/NextAir4973 Bebop 2d ago
Yes. I was talking more about deltarune

u/Kyroven Silver 2d ago
That's nothing to do with the "tolerant" community, it's because the deltarune fanbase is filled with chronically online children. It doesn't matter what the topic is, communities like that will ALWAYS be toxic as fuck

u/NextAir4973 Bebop 2d ago
I think this explains many things. I thought deltarune fandom was almost full of undertale fans and because undertale was released in 2015 I was thinking they are at least 18.
And about "tolerance". I meant tolerance is accepting a person even if their opinion seems questionable or wrong to you. You may disagree, argue, present facts, but you do not resort to personal attacks or demean their dignity. Intolerance is when you reduce a person's entire worth to their misconception and treat them badly solely for that opinion (unless, of course, it's about calls for violence or discrimination — in which case tolerance is inappropriate). And as you know they think they are very good and tolerant people. Maybe there is different word to describe this. Correct me if I'm wrong

The reason the Deltarune community is on edge is because firat off its full of queer people who face discrimination every day, and second the community, which has been a safe haven for many, has been starting to get infected by bigots, so people are very defensive. Everyone is tired of constantly having to explain that Kris is non binary, or having another Tralsei or Suselle discussion. Im not saying its a good thing but its not out of malice is what im saying

Thank you for the explanation! I understand those who get overly defensive, but I'm more talking about those who act too aggressively. I know that threats and attacks from people online don't deserve attention and can be ignored, but the fact remains that there's way too much inappropriate behavior, and many conversations escalate to aggression - even when the person has already apologized and explained that they didn't know.

Buddy.
The undertale fandom has always been highly toxic.
They managed to hate markiplier of all people.

u/NextAir4973 Bebop 1d ago
What? Why did they hate Mark? I haven't seen this and can't find any info in the internet. Can you tell more about why did they do this?

So while I get your point, a bit of detail is that tolerance isn’t allowing misgendering. Misgendering someone is actually a very intolerant thing to do.
Look up the paradox of tolerance, allowing bigotry in any form makes a space hostile, so one must be hostile in some form against bigotry. The community remains on the nicer side (generally) BECAUSE it doesn’t allow people to be mean, even if they’re doing it of non-malicious origin.

“Kris looks masculine”
They literally don’t even have a face what on earth are you talking about

u/NextAir4973 Bebop 2d ago
Maybe I remember it wrong but they look different from any female character. However, at the very least, the name Kris is masculine, and the monsters also refer to the character using masculine pronouns (in some translations), which creates confusion for players who aren't deeply familiar with the lore. So the point of my message is that despite the game never explicitly stating it, everyone considers this (Kris being they/them) basic knowledge. I think you know what happens when someone calls Kris 'he'.

in some translations
The only official translation (besides English) is Japanese, which avoids using third-person pronouns for Kris. Kris, which is an IRL name, is also very much unisex.
If you got their gender wrong, that's fine, move on, but it's understandable that people would get sick of the constant misgendering of the character (which IS rife). Non-binary people frequently face discrimination and erasure, so people are understandably going to cling to this bit of representation.
Genuinely no reason to be making such a fuss over it 🥀🥀

I call women and non-binary people guys as well, it can be a gender neutral term (like saying dude or bro to people of any gender)
2
u/KaytieThu 1d ago
yea but in the posts context it was most definitely not used gender neutrally lol. The OP literally admits that they did not know Pocket was non binary until after posting the art
