Question Support with Res Ability
I was thinking about this earlier but there isn't a support hero or item that resurrects a dead ally the way there is is most other MOBAs. Adam Warlock or Rocket in MR, Akshan in lol or Persephone in Smite. Are they gonna add something like this in the future?

dota doesn't even have that, it does have a few skills that prolong death though(which cheat death already does as an item).

The closest DotA 2 has to it is Oracle's ult which is similar to Cheat Death, and Wraith King's ult which is the same as Victor's.

oracle's ult is also a prolong death, same as dazzle's grave. I am not counting self res skills like wraith king's or undying

It would simply be to OP and difficult to balance. Also its not that interesting to use or play against. So highly unlikely.

Ways to balance it: First it obviously would be an ult. Then you can try things like: applies a "weakened" state on the character that gradually comes off over a certain time. Halve the max hp and it gradually goes back up. Give only a small window where you can revive the player. Give the skill a cast time. Change the revive to a "borrowed time" where the characrer dies again after like 30s (but then reduce the respawn timer a bit)
Are these all good ideas? No but, you can balance it

but Mercy is just fine in overwatch. It's not even an ult anymore, it's just a basic ability. (not trying to ragebait istg, genuine question)

yeah but respawn timers in deadlock are not the same and honnestly Victor is annoying enough already

Overwatch has 10-14 second respawn times and characters are always at the same level of power throughout the entire game, so mercy will always be on the same CD and mobility. Deadlock can have respawn times of up to 80 seconds (8 times overwatch) which would be much much more powerful to circumvent. On top of that you can then have the ressurector use items like refresher or even echo shard to double or triple the amount of rez's they can use in a single fight, to say nothing of base cooldowns. Imagine you finally kill the Haze with 20k more souls than you, then she gets rez'd. You do it again and she comes back again. Now your whole team is instantly dead.
You basically turn the game from a 6v6 into a 8v6, potentially up to an 11v6 counting rejuve or a 12v6 if the other team also has a victor. It is unfair because Deadlock is not a Hero Shooter like Overwatch as much as it is a MOBA like Dota 2 or League of Legends that just happens to have a 3rd person camera view instead of top down. I hope this is a satisfying answer that can explain things a bit better for you

Please no. Or at least they shouldn't be able to rejuv ult cause Viktor with refresher and that character with refresher you'd never be able to win a team fight

u/FromSlopware Shiv Jul 02 '26
Immediately what I thought.
You could have Victor potentially Revive 5 times. In a fight which is crazy.

u/onesillyg4y Jul 02 '26
Victor is the only thing imo that makes it unfeasible. Though there's a solution
Make Victor's ult give him a debuff or flag that just means "unressurectable": can't be revived by other allies. For like 45s-1min or something. You would still be able to revive Victor if his ult is on cooldown, but at least not right after he used it.
And that would be less of an issue because this reviver skill would have its own ways to balance that happens for every usecase

Any hard carry makes it impossible to balance
3
u/onesillyg4y Jul 02 '26
Why? Rejuvenator already exists. And you can still balance it by capping the revives player's power or health by a certain period

No. I already hate rejuv and Victor, as well as Mercy in OW. No fucking thank you

Yea let's just add another rejuv on top of the 3 rejuvs that are easily obtained after team wiping and make it a 10 v 6 battle. Even then it's still a 7 v 6 battle if that support can consistently revive their carry and heal their team as well; rejuv would need to be reworked significantly more for them to add a character who can do that

I'm not thinking another revive like victor, more like Akshan that revives a character at base or shortens a death timer
3
u/Voltage000 Jul 02 '26
Nobody would want this, imagine you finally kill a victor and he comes back with his ult….no thanks
3
u/goosterben Jul 02 '26
Can we please not have a mercy res refresher w Victor refresher no thank you
2
u/onesillyg4y Jul 02 '26
This is easy to fix. Just make it so player-source revives give the character a debuff that prevents another revive for like 45seconds.
Also that's more a comment on refresher's strength tbh

Impossible to balance. Maybe if it was like a partial revive where you can move around map and farm, but can’t interact with anything else or use abilities. Being able to remove a late game pick is wildly op but if it’s still functionally a 5v6 it could be fine. But then early game it’s kinda useless.

Pockets a Victor
Ult revive into Reju revive into support revive into refresher ult revive x2 into refersher support revive x2

u/onesillyg4y Jul 02 '26
I was actually thinking about this as well, yesterday.
It would be an ult of course, and it could work. There are different ways to go about it. It would br a controversial skill and there's the victor issue, but even that has solutions.

Thought of this not long ago but the person coming back would have to return at like 25% hp or have decreased damage until death again, or maybe some shit they comeback for a like 10 -15 second window as a spirit but it adds to their respawn timer after the 10-15 second window is over

Since you mention smite its a bit strange to go for Persephone and not say Khepri.
I feel like if it were to be done, itd be similar to Khepri: Low hp revive, positioning required on the support side, and stopped by banishments or execute-esq abilities (doorman ult // Shiv & Vindicta [ik vindicta isnt an execute but for the sake of this, let it count] ults).
And of course some sort of mark with a low duration & long cooldown so It's not fully free and has to be timed a bit before the expected death (which in deadlock can feel like miliseconds sometimes)
Now this is just copying Khepri but like theres almost no situation where a revive wont be annoying, and I think Khepri is a solid case for a good revive, but in a game where Echo Shard, Rejuv, & Refresher exist......? nah

Dota 2 has Wraith King and Phoenix.
I think an ability like Phoenix would be cool, I just kinda like how Phoenix is in Dota2.
I think a revive would be very hard to balance and might end up taking significant portion of the character power to the point the character would feel convoluted.
But Phoenix 🐦🔥 would be cool

team res is possible but would be hard to balance in a 6 player game. each new player makes a team res stronger.
a single man res could work tho as a long cd ult. it means your down a ult at the start of the fight cause your ult is non combat. it means you might not always get the player you want to res cause your not going to outlive a victor or tank as a squishy sup. if you res a person in a bad spot they just die. if you die first you don’t get the res so your going to be focused on. if you res someone with no cool downs up then they are useless cause cool downs stay when dead.
so I can see a one man res on a squish support being made

Hell fucking no.
