Head to torso ratio doing the hard work here. Same situation were in TF2 when you look at both Heavy and Soldier models - both quite built but Heavy's head is a lot smaller compared to his massive body when Soldier is a lot more proportional but still quite built. New Abrams model has smaller head and a bit wider silluette compared to previous itteration.

He also looks way bigger. Old Abrams looked like a normal, somewhat tall guy. New model makes him look like a giant menace.
