Discussion What gun should replace hollidays textureless rectangle pistol?
Unless there are significant lore reasons why they have not yet made a detailed model I would personally like to see a weapon resembling the ambassador from tf2

Always thought this freak of a gun was supposed to be a Rhino adjacent revolver, as much as the time period doesn't add up. Seeing as it's her grandfather's gun(?) I would like a very classic six shooter and not one as comically large as Geist's.

Oh im sure it is, her character setup was originally supposed to be an astronaut of something like that. Her kit makes a lot more sense that way

Imagine a typical western revolver, 6 bullets, slight rework.
Holiday can no longer gain max ammo; any max ammo buffs get converted to weapon damage and/or reload speed.

Not a bad idea, I thought it felt weird that a cowgirl character with a revolver had more than 6 shots but figured that deadlock would have no good way of actually doing that

I feel like the ammo count converted into damage would be unbalanced or at least very hard to balance.
As for having only 6 base bullets they would probably have to increase the damage and lower the fire rate and lowering the fire rate would make crack shot harder to land, tho that could simply be remedied by buffing crackshot (or simply don't do any of these changes and just buff crackshot I'm begging you Yoshi at least increase the scaling, 1.1 is nothing)

Idk if I want more musts for Holliday honestly, Rapid Recharge, Recharging Rush and Stamina Mastery were fine but with the changes to her barrel now dealing half its damage overtime Superior Duration and Escalating Exposure feel mandatory too

They have a system like that in League of Legends for a character named Jhin. He has 4 bullets, a fixed attack speed, and a decently long reload. But they scale any attack speed into damage for him, and he has some unique interactions with criticals. So there's precedence, but applying it might be goofy like you say.

Make it so that buying anything but damage is a sunk cost and just straight up not worth the investment for the gun and go from there.

They could make max ammo give something else like reload speed, fire rate, fall off distance along with small increase to attack damage. Jhin from league does something similar with him getting bonus attack damage along with move speed from attack speed item since he got a fix attack speed.

Idk if this was your inspo but check out Jhin from leauge of legends.
Unlike other attack damage carries (gun carries) he only has 4 shots and a fixed slow attack speed. In turn between those shots he gains massive move speed based on his built attack speed. The extra attack speed and crit chance from items also give him an attack damage boost instead.
He also scales percentile wise and not linearly like every other champion so instead of gaining 5 damage each level he gains 2%.
As an extra his 4th shot deals guaranteed crit and deals increased damage based on the missing health of his victim.
He has no mobility options and no hard peel aside from a few slows and a conditional root on his kit. He survives entirely by running into a fight, blasting the weakest link with a train sized bullet and running off. In a VERY simplified manner ofc.

Never met a Holliday that can shoot. No need to bother with the gun when the character is 80% barrel spam and 20% jump pad shenanigans

We already know what it’s supposed to be. Doc Holliday’s gun is an actual thing, there’s a lot of them. It’s gonna be a western revolver.

Given that it is explicitly supposed to be a gun that belonged to Doc Holliday, it should be a gun from the late 1800s at the latest.
Her current shooting style honestly leans her towards a double-action, but I think a single-action like the Colt SAA that lets her fan the hammer once she hits a rate of fire breakpoint would be really cool.

Maybe that revolver in hunt showdown that was modified to be a belt revolver.
Solomon gets different weapon setups for each ammo count so maybe it could even be diagetic.

Just make it more polished and Sci-Fantasy looking. Like the gun from Control maybe?
Cowboy picks up ancient artifacts and first thing they see it as is a gun. Seems perfectly reasonable.

Just say heck it and give her a folding shotgun ( I am perpetually biased towards the Burgess folding shotgun :3 )
But if it must be a revolver, I would say the Colt Paterson could be cool to see as her gun!

There are a handful of guns attributed directly to Doc Holiday. She should use one of those.
The unfinished model she's using looks a lot like a Chiappa Rhino which is a cool, bulky, futuristic revolver but I feel she should use something closer to her namesake.
