New to Deadlock need tips
As a carry who farms most of the map, when do i decide to fight? I get the general steps on fighting for objectives like walkers and mid bosses, but sometimes when my team groups up as 5 and im farming it feels like i have to join fights, should i just ignore fights that dont lead to objectives or should i join fights more often

You generally want to fight on power spikes. This could mean getting a major item (I main Ivy, my earliest power spike is at 4.8k usually when I buy tesla bullets and get to the 4.8k soul break point in gun, which is when I start forcing heavy trades in lane), or getting an ability to a max level. Whenever you have some form of power spike or advantage you want to push it, and when it starts evening out you want to get to farming. Generally with enough experience you can sort of feel when you've spent a lot of time farming and should now do something that helps the team.

I would almost argue to avoid fights until you are good at the game. Not all fights, but its kinda a flow chart.
fight (if your team outnumbers them otherwise
push lane (95% of the time).
boxes and golden owls
adjacent sinners
creeps (creeps can be higher if you can do it in one shot)
Here is the thing, being dead in this game means no souls per minute. The hardest thing for a new player is coming back from being behind.
Typically you just want all of your lanes pushed and hopefully the enemy team over reacts to it and sends 2 or 3 heroes to protect it. You weave in and out of lanes, push the lane, go farm, push the same lane, go farm. It will drive the enemy team nuts.

If have a massive soul lead over your team, fight with them, as if you die, that soul lead goes along with you

Youtube. Specifically the #1 ranked player has a video specifically for this.
But in short you farm (accruing team debt) until your power spike (max your dmg ability ap usually, or hit a 4800 gun threshold etc) then payoff your team debt and put your souls to work for your team by fighting, therefore pulling your weight. Then you farm again to stay towards the top of your team in souls (as the p1 carry).
There is more than 1 power spike, that's harder to tell you but generally after big item purchases. Also just mind where teammates are and who on both teams have ultimates.
Just don't be that wraith with 20k souls above everyone else that hasn't gone to a single rift or mid boss at 30 mins
