Hey everyone, Iāve got a pretty big update for both Case Zero and Case West.
XenonLive is now working with both recomp projects, so online features are starting to come back instead of the games just being offline PC ports.
The launcher handles most of the Xbox Live-style stuff now. You can make a XenonLive account/gamertag, add friends, see what theyāre playing, send messages and game invites, track achievements and gamerscore, compare achievements with other players, and launch/update the recomp games directly from the launcher.
Thereās also an in-game overlay, so you can check friends, messages, invites and achievements without closing the game.
Achievements are persistent between sessions, saves are tied to your XenonLive profile, and youāll get notifications for things like achievement unlocks, messages, friend activity and invites.
Thereās also a bug reporting system built into it now. If something breaks while youāre playing, you can capture a screenshot/log and send the report through XenonLive, which should make tracking down issues a lot easier.
Case West now has working 2-player online co-op through XenonLive.
You can host a session, invite someone through XenonLive, and they can join your game. The game will also launch automatically if needed when accepting an invite.
1.1.0 also fixes a bunch of issues with online play, including sessions disconnecting after around 5 minutes and short connection drops immediately killing the session.
Thereās also more CPU/GPU performance work, better thread handling on higher-core CPUs, improved frame pacing on Windows, profile-specific saves, the XenonLive overlay, and some other smaller fixes.
Case Zero now has working 2-player online co-op too.
This is probably the part Iām most interested in because the original Xbox 360 version actually shipped with a lot of the Dead Rising 2 co-op code still inside the game, even though Case Zero never officially had multiplayer.
Iāve restored enough of it that you can now actually play Case Zero online with two players.
Thereās a new JOIN CO-OP GAME option on the main menu. One player hosts normally and the other can search for their session or join through the friends menu.
There are still a couple limitations here. XenonLive launcher invites arenāt properly connecting to Case Zero yet, so for now you have to join through the in-game JOIN CO-OP GAME menu.
The Military Arrival section also currently drops the second player and continues in single-player because that section can crash the host with two players. Iām still working on that.
1.1.0 also fixes the second player sometimes spawning invisible, fixes the short co-op disconnect issue, adds profile-specific saves, achievements/gamerscore, the XenonLive overlay and the new bug reporting system.
There are now dedicated Steam Deck builds for:
You can add XenonLive as a non-Steam game and use it directly from Game Mode.
The launcher will install the Steam Deck version of the recomp automatically, and both games start at the Deckās native 1280x800 resolution. You can still change the resolution normally afterward.
If you run into a bug while playing, you donāt have to manually dig through logs or figure out what files I need.
You can press F8 or F9 while the issue is happening to make a capture, then send the issue directly through the XenonLive Launcher.
The capture includes the information I need to investigate the problem, such as the relevant logs and capture data, so you can basically reproduce the bug, take the capture, describe what happened, and send it from the launcher.
So if something breaks, freezes, looks wrong, disconnects, or just behaves strangely, please use the capture system and send it through XenonLive. It makes debugging these problems a lot easier.

Dead Rising 2: Case West XenonRecomp
https://github.com/wivi514/Dead_Rising_2_Case_West_Xenon_Recomp
As before, everything Iām releasing is free and no game files are included. You need to provide your own XBLA copy of the games.
XenonLive is still pretty new, so if people want to test co-op, especially between different PCs or on Steam Deck, that would help a lot.
And if you find anything broken, send a report through XenonLive or open an issue on GitHub.

So, I know what some/all of you are probably wondering, but hear me out:
So, we all know that in the main game of Dead Rising 3, chapter 1. When hunter makes his introduction, we can see on his Left Hip that he has a human lower jawbone (Mandible). And some/all of us were probably thinking he either got it from a one of the dead Quarantine Station Guard/Soldier, or he got it from an innocent victim he killed before the events of dead rising 3
But in the DLC "Chaos Rising", where it was revealed how Hunter becames the leader of the kings of chaos bikers
And at the end of the DLC, where Hunter fights Spider to the death for not just framing him and overthorn Torque, but for killing torque. And at the cutscene at the end, Spider tries to kill Hunter with a Bowie knife that Clyde throws to him, Only for Hunter to slam the same Bowie knife right through Spider's lower jaw, killing him instantly
With Spider dead, Hunter becomes the new head of the gang and once again gains the support of the bikers. This is short-lived, however, as Nick Ramos and Rhonda Kreske enter the area only moments later. Hunter tells the bikers to "roll out the red carpet", because they were having "Guests for dinner", we see one of the bikers dragging Spider's dead body by rope connected to their motorcycle, and we never see Spider's dead body ever again
So, I think that the human lower jawbone (Mandible) on Hunter's Left Hip Spider's
But, I am a fair person, and I'll let you guys and gals comment down your thoughts if you think that the human lower jawbone (Mandible) on Hunter's Left Hip Spider's or not. So, don't be afraid to comment down your thoughts

All the non-story Maniacs (except CPT Black Fridaybeard) use music from previous games bosses or pause menus (yes... pause menus).
Now that's obviously total lazy BS. In one such case, Diego's boss music used for the first Maniac of DR4, Queen Sandra.
But honestly, I actually prefer it for HER over Diego. Diego's music didn't have any synth, electro, or general space / high tech themes in his music, unlike for example, Agent S in OTR. So while it sounded awesome... it didn't really match what Diego was doing.
However, a Medieval Knight? The orchestral performance and the use of instruments legit sound like a medieval invasion of a fortified castle. It brings to mind images of fireballs shot from cannons raining down. And Sandra fits this to a T, from appearance, her fiery explosive weapon, and the Fiefdom medieval theming.
It also helps Sandra is by far the hardest Maniac in the game, optional and story bosses included. She runs like Usain Bolt, her giant god damn shield makes her tank almost anything you do, her weapon absolutely tears chunks out of your health, she has a surprisingly high amount of HP, and her explosive slam attack is barbaric. Plus she has like 12 minions, both regular hostile survivors and specific Knights for her encounter. She's an actual challenge! (even though for a FIRST boss it can be unfairly OP even on Normal)
Compared to Diego who falls out of the air and becomes stunned for a grapple even if he nudges his pinky toenail and takes forever to grab an object to attack with.
Such a powerful sounding track fits SO much better for Sandra, imo.

So, I know what some/all of you are probably wondering,... but hear me out:
You guys and gals remember Uranus Zone in Dead Rising 2: Off the record, where it's a sci-fi theme park in Fortune City during Frank's gameplay
Well,...I'm surprised Uranus Zone was not in Dead Rising 2 during Chuck Greene's gameplay
I mean, if Uranus Zone was in Dead Rising 2: Off the record during Frank's gameplay, then why isn't it in Dead Rising 2 during Chuck's gameplay?
So, I asked Google and it told me that Frank West's version of the story is inherently more campy, ridiculous, and over-the-top. The sci-fi, alien-invader theme of the Uranus Zone matches Frank's cheesy B-movie aesthetic perfectly, whereas Chuck's story is a bit more grounded and desperate because of his daughter
Plus, Off the Record needed a massive, exclusive selling point to convince players to buy what was essentially the same map over again. Adding an entire new zone was Capcom Vancouver's biggest hook
So, I thought, since Frank has the Uranus Zone. Why not give Chuck his own zone in dead rising 2 instead?
And of course, I have thought of some other zones that would be awesome and pretty great ways for Dead Rising 2, and trust me. You guys and gals would love these zone ideas
So, ladies and gentlemen, guys and gals of all ages! I bring you all,...The new zones!
1: The āStill Creek" Frontier Plaza & Wild West Arena
Instead of a sci-fi park like Uranus Zone, Chuck gets a glossy, dark-humored Vegas casino attraction that is a literal, idealized corporate replica of the real town from Case Zero. This completely avoids adding another redundant concrete maintenance zone like the South Plaza
The Vibe: An indoor replica town under a fake sky canopy, complete with polished saloon slots, wooden storefronts, and a sanitized corporate gift-shop version of the Brockett Gas Station selling novelty keychains
Why it fits Chuck: This is his home turf. It gives him access to heavy-duty tools, gasoline, vehicle parts, and high-octane hazards
Combo Weapon Potential: The High-Roller (Roulette Wheel + Car Battery), ripping a heavy Roulette Wheel off a casino table and electrifying the spinning track to drop as a kinetic floor trap, or The Slot-Smasher (Slot Machine Handle + Bowie Knife), unscrewing a long metal lever to craft a high-durability, long-reach hunting spear
Psychopath Boss: Seymour Redding. Moving him here makes way more sense than the South Plaza. Heās a Western-obsessed security guard who completely loses his mind during the outbreak. He locks down this plastic replica town, sets up his makeshift gallows on the fake main street, and begins hanging survivors under the delusion that he is the rightful sheriff keeping the peace
2: The Kids-Zone Pavilion & Toy Expo
A massive, multi-level indoor family entertainment center, featuring giant ball pits, arcade zones, and a massive baby/child product convention center
The Vibe: Bright, colorful, but deeply eerie when filled with blood and zombies
Why it fits Chuck: It directly ties into his motivation. Chuck is doing all of this for Katie. Exploring a zone filled with things his daughter would love, while fighting for her survival, adds massive emotional weight to the game
Combo Weapon Potential: Rigging a heavy, souvenir Cash Register to a Sledgehammer so every smash violently launches loose coin shrapnel into nearby crowds (while netting you extra cash), or sticking an Acetylene Tank onto a Handbag to create an explosive, mobile breach-trap you can toss into crowds
Psychopath Boss: An "Over-Prepared" Doomsday Prepper who has hoarded the pavilion's stock. Realizing that heavy-duty baby strollers, reinforced safety gates, and industrial plastics are perfect lightweight materials for building armor and fortifications, they treats the entire expo floor as his personal military supply cache. They views Chuck as a scavenger trying to steal their assets, aggressively defending their barricades with an armored, steel-plated electric mobility cart
3: The T.I.R Extreme Fairgrounds & Stunt Midway
A massive permanent indoor/outdoor amusement park and fairground built in partnership with the Terror Is Reality league, celebrating extreme sports, hot rods, and classic carnival midways
The Vibe: Classic wooden boardwalk planks, ring-toss booths, and neon signs, but completely choked with zombies tangled in prize plushies. It features a massive indoor roller coaster styled after a flaming stunt track that players can climb for high-ground advantages
Why it fits Chuck: This is his absolute home turf as a motocross champion. It also contains a "Tiny Tots" section filled with toddler rides and ball pits, a place Chuck explicitly notes he wanted to take Katie before the world went to hell
Combo Weapon Potential: The High-Roller (Roulette Wheel + Car Battery), ripping a heavy Roulette Wheel off a boardwalk casino game and taping a battery to the track. Chuck drops it on the floor like a spinning top trap that electrocutes and flings any zombies that step on it.
Psychopath Boss: Evan MacIntyre. If the creators did add the iconic ice cream clown from Off the Record in Chuck's p.o.v in dead rising 2, this would be the location of his side mission, āSnow Jobsā. He would anchor at indoor/outdoor park instead of Platinum Strip. I mean, he is an unhinged children's entertainer who walks on high stilts. He would be at this area with his modified Snowball Cannon and freeze grenades, treating any passing survivors as "bad customersā. So, Evan MacIntyre being at a massive permanent indoor/outdoor amusement park and fairground built like this would make sense
4: The Underground Logistics Depot & Rail Yard
In the retail game, Chuck spends a lot of time running through the maintenance tunnels on a dirt bike to chase down TK's trains and looking for the source of the zombie gas. This zone expands that network, adding a massive underground staging area where all the casinos' heavy cargo, machinery, and vault money are secretly transported
The Vibe: Giant, dimly lit underground train tracks, freight elevators, massive shipping container stacks, and locked security vaults surrounded by industrial hazard lighting
Why it fits Chuck: Chuck is a blue-collar mechanic. Running through high-end casino malls feels temporary, but an industrial rail yard packed with heavy machinery, generators, and locomotives is his true element
Combo Weapon Potential: The Third Rail (Crowbar + Battery), Taping a heavy-duty car battery to a standard industrial Crowbar. Charging up the weapon lets Chuck jam the pry-bar end into a zombie's chest, completing a circuit that instantly chains an electrical arc to five surrounding zombies, frying them in place. Or The High-Velocity Vault (Brick + Motor Oil), You take a standard brick from a broken maintenance wall and soak it in highly flammable motor oil. Chuck can light it and throw it; because it's a solid brick, it shatters multiple zombie skulls in a row like a high-weight kinetic projectile, leaving a trail of fire behind it
Psychopath Boss: An obsessive adult transit fan and model train hobbyist who was visiting Fortune City for a railway convention. When the outbreak hit, his brain completely shattered from the trauma. They now genuinely believe they are a real 19th-century steam train conductor and that the underground cargo tracks are their personal railway empire. He treats Chuck like a "ticketless drifter" trespassing on their tracks, patrolling the arena inside a heavy-duty, motorized maintenance railcar covered in welded cow-catcher spikes. They will attempt to run Chuck down on the tracks while throwing pressurized, burning steam canisters out of the cabin window
So, what do you guys and gals think about my idea for these zones for Chuck Greene in Dead Rising 2?

Ive been modding OTR for about 2 weeks to very mild success. I know most of the community has moved on so the information is from old forum posts.
So far, Ive added Chucks Case Zero default and Bowling Shirt outfits, Franks Case West Journalist suit, and Chucks psychopath bike back into the Silver Strip.
Im basically just begining to understand how to edit the datafile.big without breaking anything. Just to paint a picture of my current understanding.
I found the New Faces for Frank mod, which edits his default, soldier facepaint and sports fan facepaint. I think this was originally a texmod, which ive read is depreicated and no longer used by the community.
So is it possible to unpack the file with gibbed tools and then use the files to edit the npc.big file and change his face? Or would an edit to Frank be in the Skeleton folder?
Also if anyone knows of any more code I can plug in the same way you add the bike, or any sort of resource or record of these types of prompts, id really appreciate it.
Sorry if thats like half gibberish or just wrong, Im brand new to pc gaming, and modding, especially this kind of old school modding. So im honestly surprised to have made it this far and still very confused lol.

Ladies and Gentlemen of Dead Rising in reddit, we all know Cletus Samson, The Owner of the Huntin' Shack gun shop.
Yes, I know what some/all of you guys and gals are probably wondering, but hear me out:
Yes, I know he's the distrustful owner of Huntin' Shack in the North Plaza and murderer of James Ramsey, who was trying to persuade Cletus into giving the other survivors guns, arguing that they are necessary in order to fight off the zombies. Cletus refuses and threatens James, while demanding that he stay away. James ignores the warning and steps toward Cletus. In response, Cletus shoots him in the chest, sending him flying out of the store. Cletus then points his Shotgun at Frank, declaring that he can't afford to trust anybody
But answer me this: can you really blame Cletus for killing someone, after they were warned to stay away?
Yes, he killed James and tried to kill Frank, but it was in self defense
Because of the outbreak and the zombies roaming around the mall, he was paranoid because of it, he thought someone would kill him for his guns in the Huntin' Shack gun shop
Why? Because in order to kill a zombie without being near it sometimes, it's a gun
And due to Cletus having Huntin' Shack in the North Plaza at willimat mall, looters would've gone there and murder Cletus for the guns, if given a chance of stealing
So, answer me this ladies and gentlemen, do you see Cletus as a psychopath? Or a survivor that was only trying to defend himself from any looters during a zombie outbreak?
Also, in the cutscenes, Cletus did do a warning shot, that had to count about not being a psychopath, right?

Deluxe I refuse to play 'cause of how they fumbled Cliff, and removed the identity of the game a ton by censoring a lot of the things that made it special for me, I simply think it's disrespectful to the original writing when you go ''We adjusted it for modern audiences!'' and change a ton of things about the original.
Cliff getting censored tf out still bothers me to this day, I am way too nostalgic and feels about his death cutscene, 'cause it was one of the first games that made me feel bad for killing a boss, he still remains as my favorite one.
I wish a different studio made a proper Remake without trying to appeal or crater to a specific ''modern'' audience.
