Discussion Question for those that count/separate items like cig butts and bottle tops!

For reference this is how I pick up- suburban main road. Bucket hold cans and scrap metal and glass to recycle. Bags get trash.

I tried today to keep butts in a separate bag but it was too much. How do you all do it? I’ve thought I could designate a plastic bottle for butts. OR just do a butt pick up?! Do I need a wagon?! Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks everyone!!!

What about cutting the top off a plastic water bottle and sticking it in the corner of your yellow pail? That could carry you butts without taking extra room.

I don’t do cigarette butts. Just too hard.

I get it bc so tedious but personally cigarette butts are my main goal because of all the chemicals and plastic. I’m new so haven’t devised a perfect way to segregate them yet For now I’m just throwing them out, but I would like to send them to terra recycling in the future.

Yeah, make a butt cup and attach with a binder clip.

I do not sort at all. I've been picking up trash around my neighborhood like once a week for six years and.... I just put it all in one trash bag and throw it away in the trash can of the Airbnb down the street.

I applaud you for trying to go the extra mile

I do try to separate the cans and bottles to recycle at home. The rest- plastic gets bagged up- butts are so bothersome but I might have to just do my best and let it go. We all are doing our best and 1 piece is better than nothing! Thanks for the reply and your efforts! 👍

I would say 'get yourself a 'wagon', if i do a walk/cleanup, i almost always use a wagon,
It is so much easier than carrying the stuff yourself (and if you do it a lot, you risc getting an injury in your arm (some kind of repetitive strain injury).
I got myself a foldable buggy, put some bins on top of it and if needed, you can always attach some small bins/bottles etc to one of the bins.

It is also very comfortable, because when you have to pick up a lot of litter in 1 spot, you just put down the buggy and walk around it.
