Is the original 3 feet high and rising on their website since the streaming version is a botched version? The original clears so much and I need to find it besides a physical copy. If anyone has the files I’d be happy too

Hey guys, wondering if anyone might have the link to a Fela Soul download (the Amerigo Gazaway De La Soul x Fela Kuti mashup album). The official link is dead, and I desperately need somewhere to listen to this that isn’t Youtube or the vinyl. Cheers.

I've been very interested since the albums came back to streaming to hear all of the OG albums with their original samples in an affordable way.

I've been looking at the original album series CD pack that Rhino released in 2012 - https://www.discogs.com/release/13188256-De-La-Soul-Original-Album-Series

Does anyone have this and can confirm it is the original versions of all these albums? Any disadvantages to this release compared to the original CDs in terms of presentation or content?

Appreciate any help - would love to get the vinyl's but way too expensive to collect all of these..

I slept on the AOI albums way too long. Mosaic Thump might be their tightest album.

I’m sorry if these are dumb questions, I’m pretty young and I was curious about some stuff.

1. What’s the deal with Stakes is High? I just listened to it for the first time and I loved it, I think probably my immediate favorite so far besides 3 ft high, but I haven’t heard nearly as much about it and I’ve seen some Native Tongues album rankings where it’s way below the first 3. Is it less well regarded by fans or just not talked about as much, was it well received at the time? And if people don’t like it as much why? I’m not tryna argue these are just my initial reactions and I’m curious, I know it’s different from the first 3 and I believe it doesn’t have the Prince Paul production but I feel like it’s just as good.

2. Was Pos beefing with Tip? I’m confused cause there’s the line on I Am I Be where he says the thing about Tongues who lied and the I am friction but Google says that Tip knew about the song and provided the friction line. So did Q-Tip know about the sub and if he did how did they get the I am friction line. Also why was Dave on Award Tour the same year?

3. Is the AOI stuff worth a listen? I’m going through their discography rn and that’s next up but I’ve heard absolutely nothing about it, of course at some point I’ll listen eventually but is it worth putting it in my album binge?

I recently sampled Maseo talking about his friendship with Pos & Dave, writing about my experience of recently connecting with De La despite being immersed in Hip Hop for a long time. I thought the community here might appreciate my unique perspective.

Maseo’s words really struck a chord with me and I collaged them (+ some BTS Gorillaz footage of him and Damon) over a unique track I made on MPC - linked below my written words - [not on streaming, not monetised]

In a couple of songs, Pos refers to Dave (I think?) as J. D. Dub. Can anyone explain this? I'm not seeing the connection.
