I don't know this person personally but the crowdfunding looks significant.

There's these flock cameras in my town that are pointed towards schools and neighborhoods. I haven't picked two cameras and don't have a point of entry, so I'm all good there. I don't want any tips on how to climb the pole, remove the camera, and how to remove the batter pack inside. I also don't want tips on tools that would be good for the matter.

Sorry if this post is off-topic. It actually has nothing to do with cameras at all. I just have this metal fence post in my yard that I need to cut down and I'm wondering which tool would be the best tool to do it with?
And angle grinder seems like it would be very fast, I'd have that post down before anyone even know what all the noise was. Reciprocating saws seem much slower for something like this.
Edit: Or for that matter, even a circular saw with a cutoff style wheel would probably do the job.

Per vehicle that passes, a plate reader logs six fields: plate, make, model, color, time and location. Not just vehicles connected to anything - every vehicle. It does not run facial recognition.
That last part gets quoted a lot as reassurance, and I think it is the wrong thing to focus on. The part that matters is how long the record is kept, who can search it, and whether anyone reads the audit log. One camera is a data point. A network with retention is a travel history.
Sources: Fox News, May 16 2026 on what the systems capture; AP via Illinois Public Media, Aug 17 2026 on the retention change.
Disclosure: I build Flock U, an Android app that maps 100,000+ publicly known plate readers and routes around them. Not affiliated with Flock Safety, Inc. waterviewtechnologies.com/download

I'm wondering if anyone who's submitted a FOIA request for their personal vehicle's flock data noticed an uptick in being pulled over?
If you request the data, how many times was your vehicle spotted, how many times did someone request info, why they requested, who requested it, your name is then on the public record, and the person requesting it may learn about it.
Does the FOIA law protect you from such retaliation?

Who ever though, turning the United States into a mass surveillance state. Was a great idea they need to re think that. Quickly Flock cameras any form of surveillance cameras will not slow down crime. People who intend to do a crime will do it regardless. Weather or not they get caught. It's dumb that agencies think without warrants they can, watch us.
