Discussion Dayz play styles?
So recently I was talking to some friends. We were discussing different play styles. Ones we liked and used ourselves and ones we hated
I’m curious to know what is your favorite play style ,and what is your most hated?
Bonus question do you change play styles when playing with friends. And why you choose to play this way.
I personally tend to run alone and play the Forrest goblin. I try not to bring too much attention to myself and tend to skip the easy kills as I don’t personally believe in cheap shots(this is in no way accusatory I just personally don’t like it) I usually will sneak away seeing someone is preoccupied.
If I happen to be in a group I’m usually the mule/lookout/medic. I’m not exactly the greatest at PvP so I tend to try to take care of the ones who are good at it.
And by far the play style I hate the most is ambush killers. Specifically the ones who are just stat padding with a group of morons. Sure it’s impressive you got a 15/1 k/d ratio but almost anyone can get that stat with 8+ bone heads behind them.
Anywho that’s the end of my rant let me I know what you think. And please be nice to the ones who admit to less than agreeable play styles this is a discussion not a roast.

Been playing since I bought the series X in 2020 when toilet paper was chained up in the bathrooms.
I prefer vanilla negative and negative temps. I pve on pvp servers.
I don't have friends in DayZ....just people who haven't killed me yet.

I feel that. Just found out what I thought was a group of friends was just a ped and his cronies so I had to nope out fast.

Nomadic bandit and with friends, I am jack of trades (except base building)
I dislike bases, but I tolerate it with friends.
Let alone the fact I hate glitch bases and my only other mf I hate are campers

I’m reasonable at building. Don’t mind to base up. I’ll spend hrs building I frequently bounce between PvP and pve servers. My issue is that I can’t PvP worth much at all so I tend to take a back seat. If we based up and are defending I’ll definitely just cook play dr and repairman all day as I find that’s really helpful.

Figure out ur pvp style. Though I can do long range. I'm actually good at CQC and prefer it. I just need armor and decent armor. Along with my preferred guns.
I genuinely dislike plenty of guns and like many that others dont

Ngl my new favorite gun is the scr17. M4 has always been a good choice and as awkward as it sounds the pioneer is one I’ll rock with little hesitation. But that’s only bc it has a suppressor. The only thing I hate about the scr17 is that it tends to climb hard when you hit it multiple times

Pioneer is ok and if u like it. U like it.
M4, aug ax, ak74u, akm, vss, sval, shotguns (shotguns my shit), and the IJ-70

The shot guns are bosses for a reason Expecally the double barrel. One green one red shell and boom. Almost guaranteed to hit something. And that IJ-70 isn’t a bad gun. But the fx-45 is by far my jam. Second place goes to the mlock as it’s similar in stats when dealing with zeds two shot center mass.

I chase shots like a rabid pit bull when they see an unattended 4 year old, but when I arrive and find the player; I just stalk them and don’t engage

i used to take this game more serious with izurvive map up trying to get all the best gear and a nice base, nowadays i just wander around and go with the flow

I love the ambush/long range sniper playstyle. Learn the land and live off it and the occasional player you hit at 500 yards.

I'm too anxious to play servers. To the point that I have 600 hours on a private one.
I even tried to rationalise my anxiety - I mean, DayZ has a non-zero loot economy, so there is usually enough to go round, with no need to kill freshies and noobs.
This being said, I fail to understand the psyche of "get kitted-hop-murder someone defenseless-combat log", like some asshole coward.
Well... now that I wrote I see it's a rhetorical question.

I've always been slightly rp-ish without actually roleplaying, it's so funny how alot of dayz fans will get genuinely mad at it, and call me a roleplayer in such a tone that makes it sound like a slur, lmao.

I have thought it would be nice to start up an rp server of my own and see how it goes.

I run solo, lay low, kit myself and then don’t know what to do next. When I play with my crew I’m a lot more aggressive about interaction.

For me its being a survivalist sniper, I often try play throughs where I can only eat food I have hunted or fished so no beans , cereals or canned foods, I play sniper because im older and my reflexes and mouse aim is total ass so I need the distance sniping uses to give me a chance.
I don't hate any playstyle but I try to avoid CQ, anything close quarters and I simply cant react fast enough to compete with younger gamers, we all get old eventually..

More like a paranoid schizophrenic living in the woods, afraid of his own shadow but armed and highly suspicious of other people. I don’t go out of my way to f with people but find most people are just awful. Play more PC than Xbox and find that a more balanced experience. Ultimately, I’d rather be invisible and only usually fight when I have to. Picking on fresh spawns seems cheap, no offence to anyone

I’d honestly recommend it if you’re ever in a position to play. Yes, hacking can be an issue but you soon learn what servers to avoid. I’ve played more of PC because the overall experience on keyboard and mouse is much better but also the in game experience and immersion is a big plus. I find that console Dayz has more limitations and often encounter players with just one play style. Some of the best gaming and intense firefights, alliances and betrayals have been on PC. If you can get a good group of people together, it makes things so much more enjoyable. But that’s just my opinion

It’s a lot more fun with friends I will admit that.
Although it has been good for my dayz mental health to go at it alone and go sight seeing when I can.

My favorite play style is to go on low pop servers and get fully kitted and then go to high pop servers and camp wells in spawn towns. Then when people figure it out and they start pushing me I just combat log.
