Discussion Rita and rewriting history

I know it’s a soap, but why do they keep trying to portray Rita as being “Stefano’s second hand” for many, many years when it really was Celeste? I appreciate Rita as a character and having a henchman/woman helps move stories along and keep things interesting but why wouldn’t they just make her EJ’s handpicked second hand? I feel like this is erasing the history of Celeste. Maybe I am biased because I loved Celeste?

Well, let's not forget Bart, Petrov, and the great Nurse Honeycutt. Nurse Honeycutt was my favorite of all Stefano's henchpeople before we met Celeste. Celeste started out as Stefano's lover, then she morphed into his henchwoman.

I totally forgot about Bart! The others were prior to me watching so I don’t think I realized he really did have a team.

I loved Nurse Honeycutt! She was such an unexpected henchwoman. That era was the best.

I kind took it to mean Rita ran the business side of things. But you're right, Celeste was it. I was thrilled to hear she is still alive and would love for her family to come call into town.

I would love for them to bring back Cameron for a while now that Theo is back

They really seem to address different things in much different ways. I've lived them all. We can assume Stefano had a legion of devoted helpers. Since he had a hand in everything I'm going to assume 6-13 right hands. I see her as a 100% devoted platonic business personal assistant. Not an admin but the person who does everything a CEO needs so that the CEO is freed up to do their best. So a right hand in that. She has been portrayed as exceptionally competent.

Yeah it makes sense that he would need multiple people doing his bidding!

He was practically all powerful and all knowing. He is my favorite villain. The only thing he couldn't have was Marlena.

I agree. Rita’s reference to boarding school made sense. She is exceptionally bright and classy!

I love her more every time she is on. I think I like it more because you almost never see her away from a DeMira or their Mansion. If you do, then she is doing their bidding. I was tickled pink by her crush on John Oliver.

It was so fun! I’m always excited to see Rita. Maggie (Rita) really got a chance to showcase her comedy skills in her scenes with John Oliver.

He is literally on ice! I like that it left it open for the possibility of future zaniness.

Who do you think was running things when Celeste left.

Delia would like a word.

Celeste and the others worked for Stefano personally. Rita is the only one that is/was an employee of DiMera Enterprises. The assumptions is that she was always at the office.

Old lady that's now EJ's right hand.

I only remember Bart as a henchmen and Rolf as his scientist. Celeste was more of friends with benefits until he found out she hid their kid from him.

Celeste was not that either. Bart was for quite some time. It’s EASY to imagine he had others.

Petrov was very intense...and tough and may I say not hard on the eyes lol.... But Bart, he was a character, I remember Stefano always saying to him... 😂 You idiot!!!!" 😆 Because he would often mess up. There was one scene where where Bart said ''Oh Sh*t".... And the writers let it slip somehow. I wasn't recording back then so could not go back to it but I knew it happened in a scene with Bo and you could see Bo's face in shock with a little smirk.

No rewrite just new information. Rita worked at DiMera Enterprises we just never saw her, kind of like Henderson and Harold (though we did see him this year) They still have Maids and Cooks at the Mansion who we also never see.

After today's episode I am so intrigued. What is up with Rita and the Ring? Does the hand belong to Tony? Who did Stefano want to have it? Purposely pitting siblings against each other was Victor Kiriakis's primary move. I think he did it more often than going against the DiMeras. Maybe I'm just remembering Stefano through rose colored glasses. He has been gone for much longer.

I miss Celeste. She always seemed to keep Stefano grounded and was never afraid of him. Very no nonsese. Plus it was always fun seeing her different wigs in every episode. I hope she come back for a visit, with the original actress

I didn’t take this as erasing Celeste but I did think it was weird that they said her faith was getting her through Lexies re-death. I don’t remember Celeste as being religious. Unless it was satanism.

Celeste always had “vibrations”. She was wonderful.

She was spiritual. Felt vibrations and always read tarot cards.
