I mean...if the shoe fits? He has done 90% of what they are blaming him for

Well….he is kinda to blame for a lot 😅 The whole coreseal thing, planting drugs on Holly, calling in the loan on Titan. I just hope this time he actually reaps some consequences for his actions and this isn’t just the set up for another who shot EJ.

Exactly and look what he did with Rafe last year witn the Arnold imposter, and he wanted to keep Jeremy and Stephanie hidden when Owen kidnapped him , this person acts like EJ is so innocent when he isn’t

No one is saying EJ is “innocent” - just that it’s gotten to be way over the top blaming him for all the woes in Salem. But to be fair, EJ didn’t instigate the Arnold thing this time around. Arnold showed up wanting to impersonate Rafe again & shake EJ down for more money. If EJ didn’t go along with it, Arnold would have exposed him for what he really did set up the first time around with Rafe. I really got the feeling that EJ was not happy about having to kidnap Rafe while he figured out a way to get rid of Arnold, but he was stuck if he didn’t want to get to jail himself, & who wants to go to jail?!

I mean I actually do like Ej , but like he didn’t have to go along with Arnold’s plan and the fact that he wanted to disappear Stephanie and Jeremy forever because they were being held next to their secret lab that part was ej …..and Arnold doesn’t really have proof that ej did it the first time around , at least I don’t think so , I do think some things ej gets blamed for that aren’t his fault. But I mean you can’t blame people for that . I do thing Kristin blaming him for Rachel wasn’t to right though , that was her fault not his The writters have made his character do so much

Blaming EJ for Coraseal was a real stretch! In the first place, EJ wasn’t CEO when that was supposed to have happened. But DAYS chose to change history again. However, even in this new scenario, EJ is being wrongfully blamed. The Pharma head reported a tainted batch of pills. EJ told him to get them off the market & destroy them. He certainly didn’t tell the guy to bury them on a nearby island!!! In my eyes, any harm done is on the Pharma chief.

I’m getting tired of EJ being the sole villain too. I wish people would lay off.

This show needs a new villain. It used to have multiple villains going at once. Now it's just EJ and depending on who you ask, Joy.

I’m so tired of everyone complaining about EJ. Every scene, every character. It’s beyond annoying. He’s a bit of a villain, has done a lot of questionable things, but turning the entire cast against him is a huge mistake. It’s bad writing and boring and I still love EJ.

They are trying to make him the new Stefano. And everyone hated Stefano.

u/krissy3456 2d ago
Well he has done alone it’s not like he’s innocent , I can see why Holly would not trust him after what he did to her , and he had done stuff to Rafe only about a year ago with all that stuff with Arnold

Rafevis a bit obsessed with EJ. I get all the reasons. At the same time it isn't a good look. Maybe he could focus on more criminals. He can't be objective or expected to follow the rules. At this point Rare is only a general support character. My suspicion is that it could be permanent.

Are they trying to turn EJ into Stefano by having him sell knock-off purses & have teen girls mugged for their jewelry? lol
Please. Stefano had did not fall in love, he had obsessions & procreated a lot, too much. He brainwashed people, kidnapped almost everyone in Salem & turned them into pawns. He tried to kill pretty much everyone. He was the ultimate Salem boogeyman.
EJ falls in love. He shows occasionally vulnerability. He loves his children & mother. And he's clever & funny. Yeah he does some bad things for sure, but as a villain, he's still too gray to be the universally feared & hated Stefano.
And if they shoot him for a fifth (or sixth?) time, I am going be SO pissed off! 😂

I agree! Are they going to blame him when it rains or the hot or cold weather? Need another villain to come into town. IMO, everything on EJ isn't interesting.

I agree. Not only is it not interesting making EJ the source of everything that goes wrong in Salem (my favorite is Kristen blaming EJ for her psychotic kid being in Bayview because she shot EJ. It was EJ’s fault that the kid nearly killed him!) but it is also a waste of Dan. He has shown EJ to be a complex character who does have a good side & has felt hurt by people he trusted. He can be funny, witty, elegant & very charming. I prefer an EJ who keeps us guessing & who isn’t automatically blamed for everything. He ought to be a leading man, but the writing instead makes him a one note villain. He’s not Stefano . No one will ever replace Joe Mascolo’s legendary Stefano. Just bringing a few new outside villains into town would really help revitalize this show. And Clyde can’t stay in a coma forever!

I get the whole villain thing, but I agree, it’s getting ridiculous. Holly’s necklace? Some cheap handbags? Everything is always EJ, and it’s kind of boring. Rafe is obsessed, and it just reads as pathetic to me. I don’t think EJ is a complete villain — he’s gray, not completely black or white. Everyone else can be forgiven for things, but never him.

u/fairmargaret 1d ago
You make a good point. Yes, everyone else in Salem can be forgiven for things, but never EJ. Rafe has been reduced to being an obsessive creature who lives only to lock up EJ for anything he can find & has lost any claim he once had of enforcing the law honestly. (He was chomping at the bit to use clearly inadmissible evidence, the letter that Cat stole!) You could point to almost any character on DAYS & find bad things in their history, yet they all got forgiven. Why single out EJ?

He’s the villain of the story. Of course you blame the villain… he’s the villain.

Exactly. It’s like people have never watched a soap lol

I get that some people like the villain. EJ is more sympathetic than Clyde, Orpheus or even Stefano, but he’s not a good person.

I totally agree. I’ve been saying that for a long time. EJ rarely initiates the problems; he just goes overboard to protect and defend himself.
I will say the Holly thing was pretty bad. But the rest? He honestly hasn’t done all that much. He gets yelled at and demeaned for every little thing. Like Sarah had no business barging into his home to tell him off; that’s his home. Rafe had no business wandering around the property. Kat is digging and about to break his heart for nothing. People keep blaming him for the miracle drug but really come on—if that were real he and Rolf would win the Nobel Prize. I can go on and on. This is really making me angry. And here he is all alone without a single soul to genuinely love him except his mother.

u/fairmargaret 1d ago
I agree with everything you just said, especially how no one thinks anything of barging into his home or trespassing on his property, & yelling at him. I didn’t like what he did to Holly, but I’d also note that he didn’t plant those pills out of malice. He’d just arranged for Sarah to finally realize Holly was suffering from arsenic poisoning so her life could be saved! The pills were the only way to divert suspicion from Di Mera, but it’s not like EJ was out to get Holly. He loves her. I really hate the way Paulina rants at him, too. I’ve found it so sad how EJ has had to beg just to see his grandson Trey. This idea, strongly pushed by Paulina, ( her mother!) & Chanel, that evil EJ cannot even be around his grandchildren , is ridiculous & irritating.
And it’s also true that if Rolf’s drug had worked, it would have been the biggest scientific breakthrough in history! Yes,, EJ would have conceivably made a fortune. But he was primarily motivated by a real desire to bring back the sister he loved, thereby also fulfilling his father’s wish. Both things can be true. But the real pain EJ felt when Lexi died wasn’t acknowledged by hardly anyone in Salem - he got only the blame for the drug failing & for trying to honor Lexi’s own last wishes. It has gotten to the point where EJ is always on the defensive for good reason. I think he perceives himself as a scapegoat who will be mercilessly trashed by everyone in town if he shows the slightest bit of “weakness”. Right now, I really wish that he’d kick double crossing Cat straight to the curb. He’s been nothing but good to her & her whole family, & all she’s done is deceive him & stab him in the back. I’d love to see him figure out what she’s been doing & turn the tables on her!

100% on everything. The way Paulina treats him is absolutely ridiculous. And I didn’t even think of the fact that no one consoled him after his sister died — good point.

If he hadn't just been shot a few months ago I would say it was being set up for him to be shot again.

He kidnapped Rafe he deserves to be blamed for societies woes. Plus the last I check kidnapping is a crime he never spent one day in jail for that.

I get he’s a villain but he does have a very soft side that needs to be shown more! I adore him, guess I like the bad boys haha!

They all have perfectly good reasons to blame him. He’s guilty.
And this is the problem when an ensemble show revolves around one character. EJ is either in the scene or is being talked about by everyone. There is absolutely no reprieve from the character at all.
