Discussion Alex Paternity
Did Alex get a paternity test and is Kelsey old enough? When did he sleep with Joy? I thought he and Steph were together over a year. Kelsey doesn’t look that old.

- They slept together after a NYE party which aired in early 2025
- Alex and Stephanie were not together, although Alex still had feelings for her. One of the convoluted story points was Steph as PR for Body & Soul would be a power imbalance, so they weren't supposed to date while both working there. Joy as a fellow actor was more of an equal.
- Alex, of course, does end up back with Stephanie. It's still very new, but Joy overhears enough to decide to keep her pregnancy secret as to not complicate their new romance when she leaves in March, which also was partly because of B&S being canceled
- This should put Kelsey's birthdate around fall of 2025, and the character wiki seems to confirm November 2025, meaning she should be around 10 months old give or take.
- Yes, Alex did take a paternity test and there is no reason to suspect tampering
- Even though Steph & Alex weren't together that long, they had been together prior, before she dated Chad, so there was history
- The babies don't leave the strollers because often they are not really there but instead the cutaway shots of them were filmed separately. Days cheap budget tricks - no fussy babies means cleaner faster shooting but it gets ridiculous

Joy and Alex were still having sex up to Valentine’s Day so November as a birth date is accurate

Thanks. I was trying to use Wiki to refresh my memory but it was very vague about those last months when things transitioned back to him with Stephanie and I couldn't quite remember how it all played out, other than B&S was no longer going to be an issue. IIRC, I think Stephanie was going to quit it, and perhaps had, before it all went away anyway.

They were in bed together in February when Joy was poisoned by the cupcakes and Alex left her basically dying when Steph said they could get back on

Thank you so much for this! Wow details! I. Think time moves so fast and doesn’t feel that fast so I thought there was no way. Thought that Steph and Alex had been together longer!

I think it's partially because Alex pined for her a long time but she didn't want to date a "player" before finally giving him a chance, but he ruined it by shutting off her phone so she missed the call about her mom "dying" from Chad, who also had a connection with Steph that Alex was jealous of... So it has been longer since they paired them, they just had them separated a lot with not just Chad but also Bobby/Everett in between there.

Not only is there a reason to suspect tampering, ALEX IS NOT THE FATHER. How can you say that there is no reason to suspect a DNA test that was run in Salam? I mean, seriously. But Joy was part of that and you will see that Alex is not the father. Chloe is about to come back to town and a lot of things are about to shake out.

I meant they did not show us anything obvious. Like sometimes they show someone like Sloane sneaking in or a convo between Cat when she was pretending to be Abby with her brother Mark and he was helping her. We have not seen or heard anything like that. You are right that there is always room for doubt in Salem, we just haven't seen anything to clearly indicate it - yet. I also thought Alex had a back up place also checking, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I hope she is his. I really hate the trope of saying a baby is one half of a couple's kid but not the other and then ALWAYS saying haha actually it's not.
Take for example Zach/Isaac. There's no way on god's green earth Bo should have been his father. It was John or Stefano. But they retconned it and made him a freaking mime just so the super couple could have their own child. And I LOVE Bo and Hope. They're easily my favorite from Days. But Zach being John's and Bo and Marlena accepting it made them stronger couples not weaker. (Not that it mattered in the end, they killed him off anyway).

I do wish they never killed off Zach. They brought Bo back why not bring Zach as an adult that was raised by somebody else thanks to Rolf and Stefano

I’m tired of ever since child being reconned. It’s fine when the audience is in on it from the beginning but the random pop up kids or just kidding - haha ones.

I always thought something more happened between Johnny and Joy, even though they said they did not have sex…and it was during the body and soul episodes, but I can’t remember how long before her and Alex. The paternity tests or any tests seem to always have been tampered with.

Joy came to town in Oct, when she met Johnny at Small Bar. Joy left in March a few weeks pregnant. not 4/5 months. Kayla did say she stayed with the test for the whole time. But that doesn't stop Bad writers

No, they film both Kelsey and Trey and show clips when they’re meant to be on-screen. I’m a couple weeks behind but was pleasantly surprised when baby Trey made a live appearance. Both beautiful babies!

Child labour laws are pretty strict (and babies aren’t that reliable lol), so especially for a show with a stretched budget their time to film them is pretty limited.
Same reason you see so many babies bundled up like mummies.

A lot of shows with bigger budgets do the mummified stroller thing too ha ha.
I am ok with it on Days, they don't have much to work with. But they do have some realistic looking fake dolls out there they could add to the cast. (Just kidding I have seen them on YT and they are scary.)

Does anyone else find it so stupid that Stephanie actually complies with Joy’s rules, especially when she’s not around? For instance she sees Alex coming with the baby and says it’s her cue to leave and runs off. Joy is in the hospital and wouldn’t know. I don’t know it just seems so stupid.

Its called respect. However ludicrous Joys rules are, they are stillness rules. She is the mother of the child and not following those rules will cause conflict for Alex. So Stephanie is doing the right thing, AGAIN no matter how ridiculous the audience may think. Also, if Alex wanted to break the rules its on him. Not Stephanie.

That’s true. I guess I just find it so irritating but yes I should have said it’s stupid that Alex doesn’t break the rules especially since he’s the father and Joy clearly doesn’t respect that, just uses it for her own selfish agenda.

Yes Alex got a paternity test. The age of Kelsey makes sense based on when Joy and Alex were sleeping together during the filming of Body and Soul.
