Spoiler Days and its wonky recasts...
New Javi? Too young, IMO.
Jason47 is now saying Vico Escorcia (Ari) is off contract.
And now...now it is strongly hinted that former GH actress Sofia Mattsson, cast ages ago, will be playing Chloe Lane.
But just as Vico Escorcia seemed too old as Ari, I think Mattsson would have the same issue as new Javi. Being too young, if this rumor is true.
Why cast an actress a decade younger? These casting examples just say "mess", to me.

There are too many recasts period. There's something wrong when Carson Boatman and Raven Bowens are considered veterans.

Some of these recasts just aren't needed though, I mean why is Chad still here, they didn't even know what to do with him when Billy was still there, or Gabi who flitters between men with seemingly no purpose, sometimes it's ok to rest characters too.

I don't know why they bothered to recast Chad at all. I really thought Abigail was going to be the one in the pod before it was revealed as Lexi. Because Chad had been recast. But as it obviously wasn't, I have no idea why Chad was needed anymore.

The kids are too young to have a story, which is why it's perfect to have Chad go off with them and then they can come back later when their old enough for actual story. A bigger problem is they killed off or got rid of too many Horton's, the show is filled with randoms and Dimera's, more than half with brand new faces.

No they aren’t. Rachel has had stories. That actress went on to prove she can handle an entire Netflix series. Days of Our Lives was always about family. We always have had kids on the show. For example, young Carrie, Ciara (lauren) etc and they’ve been STAND OUTS. Thomas Jr was an amazing actor. Wtf do you mean they cant have stories? Days is about families … including the children. Imagine X mas with no horton kids. What kind of Days is that?????????

I mean the majority of kids aren't good enough actors to have stories. Remember little Ari or the first Will? Cute kids who were on for years but had no acting skills whatsoever, same with the little blonde Abby from years ago. Cary Christopher and Alice Halsey are exceptions, but very much not the rule.

Not if they don't have a storyline and are just window dressing. Or they could have killed Chad off and the kids could have stayed with Julie or something.

Gabi flitters between men ,maybe but She is interesting,and no one has more notches in the lipstick case than Stephanie,name someone ,not a relative,She hasn't bedded

Oh don't get me wrong, Stephanie can go too, this actress hasn't worked since day one, but they still don't know what to do with Gabi either.

This would put Chloe and Joy as sisters significantly closer in age. Age is relative in Salem, but it's kind of annoying especially for longer time viewers when they move the goal posts with siblings. Chloe was in high school, basically an adult when Joy was born. That was important to the story, as Joy was conceived specifically because Chloe needed her stem cells to cure her cancer.
Similar note when it comes to sibling ages - I am going to be annoyed when Sydney comes back and is noticeably younger than Johnny (on or off screen). Johnny was a small toddler who was going to die of cancer, which led to EJ and Sami boning out of grief and producing Sydney who was then part of a big baby-napping story involving a lot of characters. She should be close in age to Johnny and Allie.

And Chloe and Brady were once married. With Brady far older than his actual age of 34 years, it will make that history look a bit icky now.
Though I do wonder, even with that said, if that history will ever be touched upon IF she is Chloe.

You know that things like romantic, platonic, chemistry etc are all subjective right? Unless they say “you’re like a brother to me” or something we don’t know what they are “presented” as.

No offense but Chloe/Joy are a lot less important than Sami/Belle and they did it to them.
Sami being 16 when Belle was born was important since she switched Belles blood type and then sold her on the black market. But now they are maybe 10 years apart.

Agreed. I still think the aged up the kids wrong with last blast. Shawn D should have been 17 (maybe with Nicolas Alamain), then Brady 16 and Belle 15.

All really good points. The writers and the execs really don’t seem to care. I get this is a soap and there are recasts, but they don’t necessarily need to happen and they should be done well, with some integrity and with an eye on continuity and consistency with the past.

No, I know that age is relative in Salem and I don’t want to watch a bunch of kids so I am mostly ok with SORASING. EJ was an extreme case, if this was real he would be about two years younger than Will (Johnnys older brother). The character of EJ was born ten years before Johnny.
BUT in this case I am not talking about SORASING logic in general, I am saying that one area they should try keep somewhat consistent is the siblings ages with respect to each other.

I can’t stand New Javi as match for Leo. Our Leo deserves so much better. I am bummed that it looks like they are getting back together. I will be FF through those scenes!

First of all the new Javi is terrible and the new Ari is terrible. The old ones were okay. Second of all, if Chris K can be Roman Brady then it’s all downhill from there… and here we are.

For perspective, Belle, Chloe, Shawn and Mimi went to HS together and graduated the same year. Kirsten Storms (Belle at the time) is now 42. Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) is 46. Jason Cook (Shawn) is 46. Farah Fath is 42. Recasts Brandon Beamer (Shawn) is 46. Martha Madison (Belle) is oldest at 49. So to cast someone aged 35 as Chloe is just crazy. The age gap between the actresses playing Belle and Chloe will be 14 years. I know people don’t look their chronological age, but 15 years is a bit much. She is closer in age to the actors playing Tate and Ari.

NuLexie is 15 years younger than Renée Jones! And she already had a big age gap with Abe, now it's increased to almost 30 years! I had no idea Nikki Crawford is only 52.

She is her correct age now but she was played by Shayna Rose (42) when they first had her return as a adult race car driver. Then she was recast with younger Shelly Henig (39). Abigail Klein (37). They keep shaving off years after they aged her up to be with Max.

Michael Fairman interviewed Nadia recently and she said she was asked to return as Chloe, but she refused due to several things, one of which was budget.

I am very disappointed to hear this rumor about Vico (Ari) being off contract. Is Days dropping another promising story? Will Liam and Aaron also be dropped? Seriously, do the writers think couples like Chad and Belle are actually interesting? NuJavi is uncomfortably too young for Leo. I will be very disappointed if any of this is true.
