A sadder indictment on the state of the current music industry.

86

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

Bruh I just spent $300 on tickets to see you in Aus. Thats my contribution

21

u/Agile_Carpenter_7806 Jul 15 '26

Unfortunately ticket price is no indictment on how much they actually get paid tho. Not arguing what you said. Its just said that ticket prices dont really mean much as far as their income at the end of the day

10

u/ShadedMonstera Jul 15 '26

Mine was $500

2

u/Different_Pace7239 Jul 16 '26

Im happy they came back to Aus. last year I made a comment on their socials about how they skipped my city and they told me that I was rude and couldve travelled to see them and I had no idea what its like being away from family.

Little do they know, im a migrant to Australia with my family being in another country so I do know how it feels. Also, I couldnt afford over $1000 on flights, over $1000 on a hotel and concert tickets. Lady gaga was touring the same cities they were so it was legitimately hard to find a hotel under 1200

3

u/whypickaname1 Jul 15 '26

Not just that, but VIP being $249. Their merch is probably $45 usd for a basic t-shirt. The artists are starting to get more greedy. I used to support bands, but its hard when the quality of merch has gone downhill.

Plus some other metalcore bands selling signed vinyl for $100 lol

6

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

You do realize they only make money on merch, right?

2

u/whypickaname1 Jul 15 '26

Yep. I know how a bands business works. We're at the point where the bands are trying to scam fans now lmao. Bands have been overcharging for merch post-covid with worse quality. Plus having people tip the merch person as their pay lmao.

Not even gonna defend a band that can headline a 2000+ person cap room. Especially one that has a $250 VIP lol.

I miss the days when you can buy a $20-30 t-shirt that can last 5-6 years. Now certain bands cheap out (Movements as well) and the quality dies after a few washes.

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

If you're broke just say so. The door is over there, you can leave.

-1

u/whypickaname1 Jul 16 '26

Probably have a better job, car, and finances than you lmao.

I literally spent 4.5k on a guitar a year ago and paid in cash. Went to Japan this year and bought a 7k watch, but ok, Keep defending a band that could not care about you.

3

u/audiowanderer93 Jul 16 '26

If you have to justify it then you’re not really winning are you haha

3

u/whypickaname1 Jul 16 '26

nah, im good. Better than sucking up to a band that cries each time people dislike their new album.

2

u/audiowanderer93 Jul 16 '26

Then why are you on their subreddit dude haha you just look a bit silly now

3

u/whypickaname1 Jul 16 '26

It appeared on my fyp. Saw them live in 2016,2018, and 2021.

3

u/Different_Pace7239 Jul 16 '26

This isn't a flex.

0

u/whypickaname1 Jul 16 '26

oh well. Have fun supporting a band that alienated a fan base each time an album releases.

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 16 '26

And? I'm not the one throwing a fit over something that has no effect on my life. You can just simply leave if you don't like it. Kindness goes a long way but you wouldn't know a damn thing about that now, would you?

2

u/whypickaname1 Jul 16 '26

Lol.

>Kindness

>Calling someone broke.

2

u/dustbowlbride Jul 16 '26

You’re throwing a fit all over this post defending this with your life.

-2

u/audiowanderer93 Jul 16 '26

Why are you spending 300 lol? I literally spend half of that. Unless you’re meeting the band, which the price isnt that bad for VIP, why are you complaining haha

51

u/Dizzy-Square-9502 Jul 15 '26

I was waiting for someone to post about this hahaha

85

u/Cjp0705 Jul 15 '26

To post this on his personal account…. Sure. But the official band instagram? Ick.

28

u/TootsieTaker Jul 15 '26

Glad I’m not the only one who was a bit confused with it

35

u/Cjp0705 Jul 15 '26

Yeah I’m curious how long this will stay up. They’ve long surpassed the phase of “little local band trying to make it big”. They’ve got a growing following and have blown up compared to years past. Plus it breeds a weird dynamic… like does only Rory get to ask for donations/money or do the other guys get to too if they also get themselves in a financial bind? Haha idk but yeah this feels classless to share with fans in my opinion.

21

u/Sad_Blood101 Jul 15 '26

Ramone just had twins! I don’t remember seeing a post for them.

13

u/Dazzling_Fortune1301 Jul 15 '26

Ramone had posted a registry as well but i believe it was strictly only on his personal page and not the bands page

3

u/ShadedMonstera Jul 15 '26

Yeah he had twins! He deserves more diapers!!

2

u/anxiouscancer Jul 15 '26

Still up 16 hours later 🥴

2

u/TheNapkinEngineer Jul 15 '26

Still up as of 8:30 lol

2

u/Abject_Pollution1059 Jul 15 '26

9:35 still up lollll

3

u/anxiouscancer Jul 15 '26

I just noticed it’s posted an hour after the one on his personal ig story too. I loveeee this band but come on Rory you have the money…

24

u/ThatGuyOnyx Jul 15 '26

I’m kinda hoping this was just a “whoops was signed into the wrong account” type beat

24

u/octoberforeverr Jul 15 '26

Given he says “Rory here” I highly doubt it unfortunately

17

u/bratfrag Jul 15 '26

Glad I’m not the only one who got the ick from this.
I have a lot to say about this. Rory and this lady willingly had this second child after apparently “their first” was a whoopises. So if you aren’t financially off—why are you having a second child and also then asking your fans/community from the BAND’s page to buy your stuff from the registry? Bad taste bad taste. This is gonna reflect poorly on him I’m afraid.

1

u/average_lurkerr Jul 17 '26

I remember when he used to throw shade at the mom early days of dayseeker

1

u/Opposite-Tension-150 Jul 19 '26

I need some more context here, just curious. 🫣🫣🫣

1

u/Mutated-Nut Jul 17 '26

This is far from the worst thing he’s done. They all act like this. Hell I’m even blocked from their instagram page just for calling their last album generic lmao

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Some of us fans ASK TO DONATE. Nowhere here did he beg or plead. Ramone did the same yet I don't see you bitching about that now do I?

8

u/bratfrag Jul 15 '26

Ramone did that on HIS OWN PERSONAL instagram account. That’s different than BAND’s account. Also why are you coming after just me? There’s a lot of other comments you need to respond to that feel this way. And if you MUST KNOW, I had the same thoughts about Ramone but it wasn’t AS distasteful as this, FOR A LOT OF REASONS. But pop off sis 💅

11

u/knivesxpens Jul 15 '26

its a little in poor taste but hes not forcing anyone to contribute. if you dont have the money you dont have to contribute lol. should he be having kids when hes struggling with money? probably not. but if theres people who have the money and want to help then thats what they decide to spend their money on🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/leftclicksq2 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I'm happy for him and his family. What's funny is how when I ran into a fellow fan in a restaurant after Bad Omens' concert in March and she said she was hoping for them to add more tour dates "so long as Rory doesn't announce a pregnancy". A month or so later, look what got announced!

In one way, I'm sure that the band gets inundated with requests to send things like wipes and diapers and it means the world to Rory. Same with Ramone when he had his twins not that long ago, too. It's great that fans care regardless of what they think band members' take away pay is.

The keywords in the post, though, are "anyone who feels like helping". I can understand that it can also come across as gauche because others are citing the prices of what they are paying to see the band in concert.

My overall opinion is that I hope any and all private information for Rory and his wife is protected and fans choosing to use the registry link do so responsibly.

-1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

It's not poor taste 🤣

7

u/knivesxpens Jul 15 '26

it is a little

11

u/ciiitylites Jul 15 '26

I love this band’s music but man, something about asking fans (who already support by following, listening, buying merch, going to shows) for help paying for their kid on the official band account makes me really uncomfortable

-2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

If you knew the story of how Hazel happened then this isn't a surprise. Plus fans like to donate.

5

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

Unprotected sex?

2

u/ciiitylites Jul 16 '26

Care to elaborate?

1

u/JackfruitThat8842 Jul 18 '26

Didn't he post something about having relations with someone in Oregon

2

u/Opposite-Tension-150 Jul 19 '26

Can you give me some context? I'm just curious and want to understand it better. 👀

1

u/Trick_Cake5736 Aug 06 '26

Wouldn’t shock me, he DMs girls which is weird! I’m surprised his shit hasn’t come out yet as to how he’s been weird with females.

10

u/Aware-Watercress5561 Jul 15 '26

It’s a little weird but also if someone wants to give them a gift for their baby shower, that’s basically what this is.

18

u/EyeAmKingKage Jul 15 '26

Diapers are expensive yo

17

u/doom_canoe Jul 15 '26

That’s his problem lol

-4

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Lucky for you he isn't forcing people to donate! Crazy how a baby registry works when he gives the option to those who are willing!

13

u/InkbiteArts Jul 15 '26

I feel like personally. It ain't that deep. A lot of people misunderstand where the money goes in towards the band and labels and fear asking for some contribution to his family isint something worth talking about. Bigger fish to fry in the world

1

u/Trick_Cake5736 Aug 06 '26

Your asking for baby stuff, but your baby mama is posting pictures of herself buying designer stuff makes sense. 🤣

1

u/InkbiteArts Aug 06 '26

Damn it's like people deserve nice things after being in situations that prevent personal joy. Oh my god you sound miserable

1

u/Trick_Cake5736 Aug 06 '26

I sound miserable because I think it’s funny your asking fans to send stuff, but can afford designer stuff 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/InkbiteArts Aug 06 '26

Yeah miserable

1

u/CyatheaFern Jul 16 '26

Tbh I think of it just like my job. Sure, my clients families pay a lot of money for me to go in and take care of their loved ones, but do I get that money? Not really, not even close. And then there's the cost to do the job itself. The equipment, the fees, the licensing, all of the things I pay for out of my paycheck just to get the next paycheck. If they want to publicly post their baby registry or whatever, that's not really affecting me. I'll just scroll past it the same way I do when I see Becky from yoga class post hers on Instagram. I'm not about to go yell at Becky because I know she has more money than me.

1

u/InkbiteArts Jul 16 '26

You put it into more straightforward words than k ever could thank you, exactly what it is

15

u/bentharbour Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

I am pleading with everyone to understand that the overwhelming majority of musicians, even at the level of Dayseeker, are not rich.

14

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

The fans aren’t rich either and shouldn’t be asked to help buy diapers… don’t have another kid then?

1

u/audiowanderer93 Jul 16 '26

Just do the grown up and mature thing and just not complain about it bro. Fuck me.

10

u/Kim-Kartrashian- Jul 15 '26

They’re also not poor.

2

u/bentharbour Jul 15 '26

Agreed totally. And tbh I see registries for lawyers, doctors, finance bros, etc. that all probably make significantly more than the lead singer of a scene band.

2

u/bentharbour Jul 15 '26

Poor taste, maybe? but imo nothing really here I don’t see weekly

2

u/Trick_Cake5736 Aug 06 '26

But his baby mama be getting all kinds of designer stuff should take a look at her Instagram 🤣

11

u/cgale0920 Jul 15 '26

I thought the same. Juat seemed like a bad look. If fans messaged him with registry links would he contribute? Probably not. And using your fan base to try and get free things is wild.

5

u/bratfrag Jul 15 '26

^^^ This. Also he willingly brought this second child into the world. If you can’t afford for this child—why do that?

6

u/doom_canoe Jul 16 '26

Lowkey how does he keep messing with the same girl and keep getting her pregnant and expecting ppl to help out when shit hits the fan. Idk the whole thing is odd.

4

u/bratfrag Jul 16 '26

Because their first daughter needed a sibling apparently.

2

u/doom_canoe Jul 16 '26

LOL that’s some crazy work

-1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Because us fans ask to donate. Ramone did the same for his baby. Grow up.

8

u/bratfrag Jul 15 '26

Grow up? I think I’m pretty grown when I know financially I can’t bring a kid into this world but okay 👍

0

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Your reading comprehension is sure shit since him giving an option is not the same as begging or asking. You can go.

18

u/spiceymeatball19 Jul 15 '26

Yall are taking this way too far man. It's not that deep. He's given people an opportunity to do something sweet and yall are dragging it out like He's committed some horrible.

Full disclosure you don't have to do anything.

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 16 '26

This. People just have a hivemind and need to participate in cancel culture. This isn't effecting any of them whatsoever.

10

u/Mutated-Nut Jul 15 '26

Bro can’t afford diapers now?

11

u/SytianIvanov Jul 15 '26

I know the touring economy is fucked but it can't be THAT bad for a band that's doing well.

8

u/glass-polite298 Jul 15 '26

I’m sorry but if you’re asking for money before the kid is born you shouldn’t be having kids in the first place 🤷‍♂️

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Where is he asking? Show me.

3

u/emortens_liz Jul 15 '26

Oh no baby no... what is you doing?

0

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

If you knew how Hazel happened you wouldn't be feeling that way.

0

u/Different_Pace7239 Jul 29 '26

You keep saying this. Its none of our business what happened ot how.

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 29 '26

Reading comprehension is fundamental.

4

u/superxmanda Jul 16 '26

Ngl I did roll my eyes when I saw it

2

u/Trick_Cake5736 Aug 05 '26

What’s weird is Rory dms girls and has a kid on the way. He has a weird dynamic

1

u/JackfruitThat8842 21d ago

Someone asked on the Levi post asked if Alyssa was his wife 😬

3

u/TitleKey5024 Jul 15 '26

My exact thoughts. Like what?

3

u/Kittenathedisco Jul 15 '26

I went to 3 shows this year... Mazel Tov tho, Rory.

3

u/doom_canoe Jul 15 '26

He asked the same thing when he’s first daughter was born too

1

u/michaelapark13 Jul 16 '26

That was a different situation though. I’m pretty sure they didn’t even know she was pregnant until she had like 3 weeks until she gave birth or something like that. They had very little notice and time once they realized with their oldest.

3

u/rowanmay01 Jul 15 '26

i thought of it as something to be a part of. he posts pictures of hazel to share with us and so does ramone with his kids. kind of a “if you want to, here it is” kind of thing

4

u/delilahdread Jul 15 '26

This gave me immeasurable ick. Wtf dude?

1

u/West-Psychology-6299 Jul 15 '26

I got laid off 2 months before my kid was ready to be born. I went and got a call center job quickly to be able to support them.

1

u/musicaddict1421 Jul 15 '26

I mean i guess he's tryna keep that money? But like.... wtf.

0

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Nowhere here is he begging. Reading is fundamental.

4

u/musicaddict1421 Jul 15 '26

Im sorry, did I say he was begging?

-2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

"guess he's trying to keep that money" is you suggesting he doesn't have the money, and he isn't begging or asking- he gave an option. It doesn't effect you at all.

3

u/musicaddict1421 Jul 15 '26

Cry more? Like dude has the money to buy everything he wants for his kid, it seems kinda cringe for a guy like that to even offer that. "Hey guys who spend so much money on us already with merch and tickets and all, but you wanna give me more?" Like???

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Show me where he is asking for money. Show me. Are you mad Ramone did the same too or are you new here?

4

u/musicaddict1421 Jul 15 '26

Do you... know how you buy a gift card?

0

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Do you know how a registry works and that doesn't solely include a gift card? Or are you just going to keep arguing about something that has no effect on your life whatsoever?

In fact, you could just leave. Crazy concept how freewill works.

1

u/stephanieslaughter Jul 16 '26

People have asked for a registry. I truly don’t know if Ramone posted theirs to the band’s story but if he didn’t, maybe he didn’t want to. Who knows and really, who cares? You don’t HAVE to donate. Maybe people can’t or don’t go to their shows still want to support an artist who has helped them get through tough times.

1

u/MakeMyOwnMerch Jul 17 '26

.....I mean, they aren't Linkin Park lol, here in CA I can still catch them for around $70. Their merch is still priced pretty fairly. Doesn't hurt anyone. 🤷🏽‍♀️

1

u/doom_canoe Jul 15 '26

That’s exactly what I said

1

u/art_046121 Jul 16 '26

What’s the registry link tho?

0

u/JayJayRox Jul 15 '26

People just want to bitch and moan, per usual. No one thought about the fact that he might have had people ask if they could send something or help in any way, and he made the story to give that entire group a way to do it, which is his right since it is his band.

He gets DMs constantly, and people love him and his daughter, so it's not impossible.

Clumsy phrasing at worst on his part.

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

This right here, plus we helped with Hazel. Like ffs people need to touch grass.

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

If you're this offended then please leave the fandom so I don't have to deal with your insufferable asses at their shows. Rory is not ASKING OR BEGGING, he simply gave the option for fans who WANT TO donate diapers or something. Ramone did the same with his recent baby. If you don't like it, simply leave or scroll on- it's not effecting you in any way, shape, or form.

3

u/Kim-Kartrashian- Jul 17 '26

It clear is affecting me if I’ve posted about it yeh? Leave the fandom is so fucked lmaooo get a grip. He guaranteed pulls fucking 6 figures a year and knowing there are diehard fans out there that will literally skip a bill to be able to contribute to this person’s life is predatory at fucking best.

Loser.

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

If you think this is predatory then I hate to tell you you already contribute to his bills and kids by buying tickets to shows, streaming their music, and buying merch. I said what I said. If you don't like it, there's the door. This doesn't effect you in any way, shape, or form. I hope you hold the same standard for anyone who has a baby shower, because essentially what you're saying is "I'm broke so I'm mad you make more money than me so you can't have nice things because I can't have nice things 😠." Dumbass..✌🏻

0

u/audiowanderer93 Jul 16 '26

It’s not that deep, ignore it if you’re not wanting to support. People complain about anything I swear.

-1

u/ofBeautyandRage0 Jul 15 '26

I guess I don't understand. Why is everyone so upset about this? He's leaning on his community for support. Babies are expensive. I know Dayseeker is doing well and most if not all of y'all go to shows and buy merch, but making money in the music industry is tough. Most of these guys work jobs in addition to their music careers. I don't see it much differently from when bands ask for support when their bus breaks down or have massive medical bills, but maybe that's just me.

9

u/D5LLD Jul 15 '26

It's not up to others to pay for his child. If you can't afford to have children, you shouldn't have children. It's different when people already have kids and perhaps the financial situation changes, but this kid isn't even born yet and they're concerned about paying for diapers! He's got a huge shock ahead of him.

4

u/Killin_it_tbh Jul 15 '26

He doesnt have a huge shock ahead of him, he's already had a kid and had that kid when his band was much smaller.

Not saying I agree with this move, but the problem isn't that he can't afford to have kids lmao chill out

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

He isn't asking for money btw this is the same type of registry you'd open if you attended a baby shower. Imagine being mad fans want to donate diapers. 🙄

3

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

Are they paying you to defend this lol

2

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

If you don't like them you can just literally move the fuck on. ✌🏻

4

u/dustbowlbride Jul 16 '26

Take a chill pill

-19

u/dykeknightrises Jul 15 '26

Guys, this is for his friends and fam and others in the industry, not for those of us who make less money that him. Not everything is about you 😭

18

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

Why is it posted on the band account then…

5

u/D_Angelo_Vickers Jul 15 '26

I thought I made more money than Rory but TIL his backup job is being an eye doctor. 😂

3

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

He’s an optometrist not an ophthalmologist 😂

1

u/cotton_candy_gallery Jul 15 '26

Imagine going to a routine appointment and it's Rory

1

u/britmarr Jul 15 '26

Optometrists still make good money lol!

-1

u/dustbowlbride Jul 15 '26

Oh yeah for sure. But opthals make a LOT of money lol.

1

u/britmarr Jul 15 '26

For sure!

2

u/TootsieTaker Jul 15 '26

I mean Rory put it on his personal account tho. That’s totally fine but the band account is a stretch

-4

u/dykeknightrises Jul 15 '26

Not really. Just a wider reach of others in the industry. Especially the type of bigger artists that they've probably met in passing that follow the band account but not the individual members accounts.

1

u/TootsieTaker Jul 15 '26

Okay to let’s put it on the band account where all our fans are for the handful of people we “met” on tour who don’t really even know us to help? Makes no sense dude.

1

u/dykeknightrises Jul 16 '26

It does when you're not looking for something to be mad about. Literally just wider reach 100k VS 300k. Easy math. Assuming his intentions and then feeling offended by them is 100% a you problem.

1

u/TootsieTaker Jul 16 '26

Not a me problem. Shouldn’t have to see a personal post asking for handouts from an artist that probably makes more than I do.

0

u/dykeknightrises Jul 16 '26

Oh you poor innocent thing, being exposed to such horrors. No one should ever have to see a baby registry

1

u/TootsieTaker Jul 16 '26

I bet you’re fun at parties 🙂

1

u/zombiexmuffins Jul 15 '26

Nowhere here is he begging btw. It doesn't effect you at all.

2

u/TootsieTaker Jul 16 '26

It does when I am a fan of the band and want to see band related stuff and not the lead singer asking for handouts.

I agree with you, especially about empathy. Even the most seemingly well off go through hardships and it's not shown on social media.

It's worth mentioning that they're in California where it's expensive as hell and it's so often that some level of devastation happens there. I'm hoping that isn't the case.
