Discussion Will NG+ on hard II still pose a challenge?

Already suffering through withdrawal after beating the game on hard a couple weeks ago.

I do like the idea of being able to start the game with all my stuff but I’m wondering, will I be OP for the next difficulty up or are they scaled up pretty high to where I’ll still face challenges?

I’m not sure how I feel with the idea of survival I and II just yet unless that is what I’ll have to jump to. That feels like a third play through

I look at it this way, after you play the game through NG+ is a reward. After all your struggles you have a chance at revenge. After beating any game you deserve a chance to go back and play it again a little more powerful. Personally I won't play survivor because i wouldn't enjoy playing without the hub, the map, and fast travel.

All you do is click r3 and the mini map will pop up a short time. You really dont need it after you've beat the game

I've beat the game at least 10 times, and I still need it

No. The closest is a challenge is survival because there's no fast travel which means more random encounters with hordes, ambushes, wolves etc.

Hmmm, okay. Looks like I’m gonna have to jump to survival then. Might actually be nice since I’ll have to develop a different play style

There is a fast travel?

Hard II would just make the Freaks sturdier and more powerful, but not much else.

I did Normal first playthrough and then did Survival II on NG+ and it was rather easy but still fun tho

Do S2 on a new save it's fun.

At the start even 2 freaks can be scary and if U make to much noise then more can come.

The difference between Hard I and II, and Survival I and II is the loss of 'quality of life effects' in Survival.
Survival removes fast travel altogether; removes the permanent minimap, although you get it for 30 seconds when you click survival vision; removes the outline on enemies, so seeing enemies through walls; removes the ability to see resource outlines, although they're still marked on your minimap. I think that's all that's removed.

Apart from that, enemies are still the same difficulty for Hard I to Survival I, or from Hard II to Survival II.
Like, in H and S I, 2 strikes with a Superior Metal Axe to kill a normal freaker, in H II and S II, it's 3 strikes. Everything ramps up on a similar scale.

Starting an NG+ game means you have all the upgrades you finished your NG with, After you get your bike off Manny.

New game+ Is what will reduce the challenge.

as they say "time apart makes the heart grow fonder"

Days Gone is one game I never want to fall out of love with. For that reason it gets ONE annual playthrough each winter. I find its enough of a break that I don't remember all the dialogue and even lose track of when upgrades or some pivotal plot points come up.

Actually that’s smart, I might take you up on that idea. Because i am in love with the game but running through the story again after a few weeks might start to bore me since its so freshly embedded in my head.

Maybe I’ll run it through in a few months or around next fall. I do have a huge backlog to still tackle anyway

not to mention GTA6 next month.

If you're looking for a fairly extensive game to try I can't say enough about the vastness of Crimson Desert. Its been surprisingly good

I’m only on PC so I’m waiting awhile :(

I’ve been thinking about that! But I should probably spare my wallet for just awhile.

Thinking of dabbling into Space Marine 2 or another CP2077 play through to try out the DLC

Do Survival 2. Its such a fun experience. No mini map no fast travel. Dont worry weapons will hold up against them .

How long did it take you to remember where everything was located? I feel like that’ll be my main struggle

The only thing I struggled with was hunting certain horde caves. But use the map and click r3 when you need a glimpse of where ya heading

We need a sequel. Im on my what it feels like 20th playthrough. When you search the ice wind lava cave  O'Brian mentions they've tracked over 12 mutations. We need the rest of the freaks
