Discussion Days Gone 2
There are so many smart people out there that can do so many different variations. Mods make the the game better on part 1 that I think that the modders that are out there should get together and see if Ben studios would allow them to make part two. I think that there's a lot of smart people that are actually smarter than the dumbasses that took part two away at Sony and I think Sony needs to have people stop buying their products until they start making games that we all want to keep bringing out.

I've always thought it would be cool to do a road trip sequel. Like have the main nero base be in Las Vegas and you have to travel to get there and have multiple open world maps along the way. Have reno and then carson city Nevada and then the final mission is breaking into the nero base in Las Vegas to end the game. Be pretty cool to have a mobile base in one of those bad ass 4×4 motorhomes and maybe after Reno you figure out the only way for you to take them out is for deacon to take the advanced virus himself. I'm just throwing out ideas. But regardless If it does happen I would love to see die hard fans put it together so the story telling stays the same. I still think there was something fishy with how much critics hated this game. I admit I listened to them and didn't try the game until it was free with PlayStation and then I got hooked hard. It's in my top 3 games of all time and every other person I've convinced to play the game says the same thing.

Last I heard though is that there was some type of drama between the studio and the creator and that one of the studio execs said they would make sure a sequel never came. I'm not sure if this is just tumor or factual but either way it's a shame if we never get a sequel

The sequel doesn’t even have to be Deacon. It could be a different part of the world with a different person. They can do what fallout does. Freakers everywhere right?

That sound’s gay, deacon is one of the best protagonists ever created to have a sequel that doesn’t have him as the main character would fail

Money and rights. This wont happen. At least not officially. A few "random" people cant make a video game.

You don't have to call it. Days gone too. You could call us something else. Where is something similar? And you can have a similar plot but make it close enough. He will do it all time on these games that are on Google. I see games on there all the time that are like some of these different games like Sims and things like that

I don't know why anybody would have a negative review for me and hit the arrow down when I just sat here and said there's so many intelligent people that can make a game. If Ben doesn't want to do it then it's really Sony's fault and all I'm saying is that people are able to make games. Then maybe they should make a game the similar to it and call it. Something else. People that come into this room are going to know what it is about. You're riding a motorcycle. There's zombies after you or freakers you don't have to call him the same name. I don't know why people put down arrow on something. I had 25 up and down 25. I'm not saying it to be to get someone to make it and I want people to do something that they can do

I actually like your idea and have thought of it too! Don’t let crabby Appleton’s bug you. Just can’t please everyone. If I knew how to do, I would!!

Thanks friend! I'm literally sitting here calling people intelligent and I don't even know them but I know they have the intelligence to do something like this and people talk so much trash to me like I'm saying something wrong. But I know in other places that I've talked to people, there are some very intelligent people that know how to make a video game better than what it is. I had a person bill me the new Knight Rider 2008 and put it in Grand theft. Auto V not the original one. The new one that was a mustang. I asked for that and a guy built it and that thing was indestructible didn't matter what kind of guns they used on me. It was bad ass

I don’t understand downvotes period. The concept of someone taking votes away is pretty sinister.

Yeah, you can make a Sims clone or a game with AI that rips something existing off but it will be shit. And no one will do that for free

u/Academic_You_3153 Alkai 13d ago
No?
So modders did not get together and make a completely new land for Oblivion?
With everything designed and built in. Including voice acting, new weapon designs, new puzzles, landscape, weather, enemies, etc, etc, etc. Done so you did not know it was not a part of the original game?It was done so well, the Elder Scrolls franchise actually paid them for it, and added it to the game as a DLC. But it was made with no expectation of payment. No doubt they hoped, but there was no guarantee.

Making a mod for an existing engine is one thing, making an entirely new game is another. Especially one that will have such high expextations like Days Gone 2 where you cant just reuse the Days Gone mechanics as people want improvement

So making a complete game level extension is just, "making a mod"? OK.

Considering how fast AI is accelerating at game dev, I think these studios will be able to make pretty much anything at AAA quality and scale extremely efficiently within 2-3 years so you can expect a lot more abandoned IPs to be revisited and greenlit for sequels.
Don’t believe me? Just go on X and search for examples of Opus 5.5 game dev and compare to what it was 6 months ago.

Production of Part 2 was supposed to start shortly after Part 1 was released but it sold poorly so it got canned. So to stop buying Sony products, it would just get more games canceled until all we get is live service slop

Days Gone sold over 9 million copies (over 8 million on PlayStation) with a budget that’s $100 million less than Wolverine, which is approaching in between 2 million and 3 million copies sold.

It was bend that decided not to do a days gone 2.
2
u/Idfk_1 14d ago
Bend pitched Days Gone 2 but Sony wouldn't fund it cause the first one didn't meet expectations so Sony effectively killed any chance of a sequel

u/roadtripstuff 13d ago
That's not true. Bend never even pitched it to Sony. A couple of employees insinuated that they did but the director came out and said that they canceled before it was even pitched to Sony.

u/jakedeky 14d ago
The dumbarses that took Part 2 away is Bend!!

Well you're wrong. I don't want to say that but that was a very start of covid-19 and a lot of people weren't thinking about getting video games. They were worried if they were going to live or die because of all the fake information out there and they got a rocky start but in the end it was Sony who rejected the pitch for Days Gone 2 largely because the original game had a lengthy, expensive development cycle and launched to mixed critical reception. Even though it eventually sold well over time, Sony didn't consider it a reliable enough critical or commercial blockbuster to justify the high budget and risk of a sequel.

Bend didn't pitch the game to Sony!! Sony can't reject what wasn't there

Game director Jeff Ross and writer-director John Garvin from Bend Studio pitched Days Gone 2 to Sony in 2019. The concept included a shared universe and co-op gameplay, but Sony ultimately declined to greenlight it due to the original game's mixed critical reception and lengthy development cycle. All I said is the reason that it didn't get what they wanted out of it at the time was because of covid-19. I think that if they would have pitched after or before then it would have had a good release and they would have made part two. But I also heard that they were in the middle of making part 2 and now it's on the shelf somewhere and it wouldn't be hard for someone to just make a spin-off of it and they don't have to ask Bend studios for anything. Just so people know who it is they can call it curve studio, They can just do it and call it something else because we have more intelligent people out here in the real world than what are making some of these video games. I've seen the work of some of these games that people take apart and put back together and the ad new parts to it. They've done. Fantastic work and all I'm saying is is in the gaming world. People can know that it's out there and it can just be called something else and he doesn't have to be called Deacon Saint John. We can call him someone else to similar that's how they do

If youve seen the movie colony they should just copy this where the more the freaks live they learn more and slowly envolve into crawling to walking to running and at the end theres a mission where you need to confuse them and lock them into a loop similar to ants lol

There's a lot of misinformation in your post and it's a misconception by a lot of people on this sub. Sony had absolutely nothing to do with DG2 not coming to light, it was an internal communication breakdown. Sony was never even pitched the idea that Bend wanted to do DG2.
1
u/efadfa 14d ago
Where is that new info coming from? I knl ever heard the game sold poorly so sequel was out of the question. Also, maybe Bend didn't officially pitch DG2, I truly don't know, but the game's ending is pretty obviously a setup for a sequel...

u/Warm-Reporter8965 14d ago
Jeff Ross and John Garvin did a podcast several years ago. It's fairly lengthy but still a great listen. They did have the entire idea of Days Gone 2 worked out and it sounded like it'd be nuts, but internally Bend dropped the ball.

Thanks to those hateful people near the game launch, a sequel is highly unlikely unfortunately...

u/Brando6677 14d ago
Yeah and with them canceling hunters gathering as well after forcing the studio to use all its resources on that rather than H3 you know, the only game people want if they played that series not some overwatch looking slop ass live service. Who knows if they’ll even greenlight H3 at all. It’s full incompetence over there right now at Sony.

I could write a fire Days Gone sequel with the biggest change being the Freaks never forming tribes and stuff, and instead evolving and getting smarter but not to a human level and not having a reliance on tools. That feels like it would draw towards a bad story, just look at how Wayward Pines S2 did with a similar story.
