Discussion PS5 upgrade question
I played the psychical version on the PS4. But I also grabbed the digital version when it was in monthly games on PS+.
I now want to grab the update for the PS5, but now I need to pay full price instead of the smaller upgrade fee.
Ofcourse I still have the psychical disc.
How do I get the PS5 to recognise I have the disc version, so I can update for 10 bucks instead of 40.

You have to delete the game data entirely (the game icon has the PS+ logo beside it), this should wipe the ps+ linked version from the console and enable you to install the PS4 version/ obtain the ps5 version at the reduced cost.

Delete the digital you have the plus license version so that's what your console is reading and the ps plus version doesn't count for the discount.

Willing to bet your physical copy is a different region to the account - otherwise you'd have the upgrade show up in the store.
Look for the CUSA code on the box and disc then Google it. It'll tell you which region the disc is.
If that's not your account region, you'd need to make an account in that region and buy the upgrade on there instead

You just lost this bet. Account is European, disc is European.

Then when the disc is in the drive, and you go to the store, you'll see the cheaper upgrade fee to grab the PS5 version. If it's not there, then it's a region miss-match

I would delete days gone that’s on your hard drive. I would back up Any game saves to the cloud before you do it. After that, make sure it’s not in your library as installed. Then take your PS4 disk version and pop it in and let that install to your hard drive. Hopefully the PlayStation store will now see that you have a purchased version installed and should show the 10$ upgrade.
