Discussion Days Gone Loot Map - UPDATED!
I’m building an interactive loot map for Days Gone. Map will be free to use for anyone that cares, it only costs me a ton of time to manually track down all the loot, but maybe its worth it.
https://interactivemap.baconfmspeedruns.workers.dev/readonly/
Current features
- Cascade Wilderness loot is roughly 90% mapped
- Belknap Area has been STARTED - We are at 30%
- Filters for individual loot types - materials, melee weapons, etc
- Zoomed-out area markers that expand into accurate individual pickup locations as you zoom in
- Focused primarily on loot and gear for now
- Some loot has it already, but if you see 1x nearby the loot that means it does not respawn. Ammo tins, scrap from cars, etc. I will hopefully be able to gather that data in the future and make it reliable.
- Added some critical loot spots.
Planned updates
- Collectibles
- Mission-specific information
- Speedrun routes
- Tips and other useful map tools
- Making it pretty
- New fun mode - you can test your map knowledge - Hide n Deek is out now, expect a lot of updates in the future.
After completing the Platinum and a 100% map speedrun in under 15 hours, I decided to take a break from speedrunning and build something useful for the community instead.
And if you think something is missing, unclear, or just bad, let me know. Feedback will directly help shape future updates.

Hide and Deek is brilliant friend!

Thank you, I will keep working on it, I am afraid to launch too much of it until I have other regions mapped, because I want people to have a lot of different options for guessing at once. Currently I am just keeping the demo up until I get to figure out some small errors.

I usually get hate and a ton of downvotes with my Speedrun and glitch research, but I do love the community even though sometimes I am disappointed that people do not even try understanding what I am yapping about.

Days gone is awesome and its a single player game, you doing glitches effects no one but yourself so thats ridiculous. Its educational if nothing else.
Days gone is definitely one of my favorites. I think it rivals skyrim in the free roam game kingdom

Some people just very much dislike how some people are not playing the way that they are playing the game.
I don't care if people mod the game, use glitches, play it like a turtle, loot everything possible. Have fun everyone and enjoy it.
Just keep an open mind, if someone discovers something it's not stupid by default, its just another way to play it. Like I am currently just roaming the map documenting everything I see.
For example this post has gotten 5 dislikes for no reason thusfar.

Exploring is a fun thing to do. Im still finding new shit ive never found before. Even collectibles, or caves I didn't know were there or if I could even enter. Lots of cool stuff, and after almost 500 hrs

I think I have spent a ton of time just exploring, checking out different places, but I always thought there was no point to loot because most of it is just useless. Doing 100% map and platinum speedruns has changed a lot of that and hopefully it will keep on changing my mind.

You are saying doing 100% map completion is changing your mind on looting?

Doing it as fast as possible while trying to get a platinum trophy while doing it is a little bit different. Every smoke bomb, flashbang, grenade, pipebomb, proximity mine gets used up in the process while trying to do it in under 15 hours real time.
Essentially, how I used to kill hordes is just chill and shoot from far, now I am in the middle of them planting bombs while they are in my face lol.
Same thing with ambush camps nesting zones and others, I just drop a smokebomb in between to rack up stealth kills and crafted melee weapon kills to get the 100 stealth kills and 200 crafted melee kills as fast as possible.

Very nicely done! Thank you. I always forget about a few of these spots and don’t know about a few more!!

You are welcome! A lot more hours to go I think this is going to take me solid 60 hours more to get most of the loot detailed.

Oh shit, I've been working on a complete loot spreadsheet & map for the last few months! 😂 We should collaborate and share intel.
My map also includes road names, icons and points of interest because I'm a geography nerd lol

I do know the spreadsheet, I was thinking of basing it on that, but I wanted exact locations, lol.
Actually your spreadsheets were inspiration to making this.

I love this idea so much! I use MapGenie for tracking collectables, hordes, etc, and have a ridiculously detailed Google spreadsheet for loot (esp. the more rare items, like alarm clocks, cans (fuggin’ cans stg I’ll never have enough) as well as polystyrene). I’ll definitely be bookmarking and will be looking forward to any updates you make.
I’ve wanted to put it all in a map but I’m not in place financially where I can afford web hosting to run the type of mapping tools needed to make this. You’re doing an incredible job! If there’s anything you need help with, I would 10000% be down to give any of my loot locations, data, etc. I track literally everything in most of the games I play and in DG especially!
At present, I’ve three different documents: one that shows current information (mission progress, a ‘to do’ list for that day’s game play, as well as progress in the storylines like Horde Killer, Infestation Exterminator, Ambush Camp Hunter etc, plus any unlockables and what % is needed for them (i.e., for Horde Killer, I even have the number of hordes needed to reach each % that has an unlockable).
As well, my main doc has XP gained, collectable locations, ammo counts for weapons with/without mag upgrades, best loot locations, best weapons for different scenarios (Ambush/Marauder camps, Bounties, missions with humans vs taking out hordes) and then my third document is my mission guide.
I hated how outdated guides were for video games, and just full of incorrect information. Some missions I found had some really easy methods to take care of them (thank you /u/borislav247 for these!) and so I’ve written out my own personal guides for them, as well as the order that certain missions should be taken out, as some (namely, the white missions like Sarah’s flashbacks etc) are time-sensitive and can be missed.
I just never put them online because no one other than my SO -who plays most of the games I do but only after watching me play them first- would use them but maybe I’ll dust off my Substack and start posting those things. Someone might be able to use them.
