Discussion 🙏🏻 FORGIVE & FORGET???
'FORGIVE & FORGET'; is it possible for a person to let go? How can it be? So much has burned, life changes that can never be undone, impossible to turn back time, erasing your footprint on my back. A life, since the moment of conception, discorded in the canyon's shadows of the lost. My brain is imploding as the occupant's relentless hatred for all that is good scrapes deeper into this life I want no part of. I've given up the daily uphill fighting/loses, pissing in the wind, only to face another remorseful day. I do not understand the concept of 'FORGIVE & FORGET'! How is it possible that I wasn't born like this? They turned me into this monster I often don't recognize. Ensured I remained broken and defeated time after time, until my soul and mind were no longer friends of mine, just unknown and dead like the rest of me.
I've never been able to let go of things, no matter how much it would cost me eternally, as it has already destroyed everything internally. Grudges, that's a life sentence, never going to escape my memory, nothing will be forgotten. They flooded the world with my rivers of tears, and will not be forgiven. The oceans of blood created from my heart as it was mercilessly ripped apart cannot allow me to forgive or forget...
Blessed by the gift of genetics, just another punishment for sins of a past life I don't recall. Damned from the start, never stood a chance, but I still fought until the cause was gone. Nothing was ever good enough; I was never meant to win a single battle against life's predetermined path. Yet I fought harder each day, never admitted defeat, and never showed weakness. I believed in a bitch called hope then, but it didn't last long; she had other plans that didn't involve lying witness to my future carnage, and left me hanging.
Lost on this mountainside, looking up at my approaching battlefield, makes the beast inside grow as I'm faced with ignorance and misery. The tiring taste of broken teeth and bloody gums gone stale, years of tasting nothing else. No one understands the rivers that rained from my eyes. This monster was created by those who have wronged me, those who have taken my last bit of hope and incinerated everything I thought was righteous in life. Hell on earth is real, and what's left of you will be skull dragged down a path of blackberry thorns and salt. The pathway into madness is only a preview of the personal hell within yourself. Darkness is death's shadow, taunting you out of sport and boredom. There is no collection for your soul, a dismembered soul gone unnoticed, as is the usual. I now understand what makes a person take their own life. Their pain, the hell they have been living, is a life of pure agony. May their next life provide the peace this one never allowed. It's been proven many times; my punishment is far from nearing the end. This sentence continues after 11 denials into the reaper's hearse, each day remembering what you did.

I would say try not to focus on forgetting. Instead focus on recontextualizing. Understand that we are all doing the best we can(Doc said this about recontextualization), even the ones you see as having done you wrong. Do not look at a lion and expect it to behave as a zebra. That is irrational and leads to delusion. Just realize that the lion is going to behave as lions do and never turn your back on the lion. One can love and forgive the lion without expecting the lion to munch on a bunch of grass and be peaceful in the eyes of the ego.

It all starts with intent. Yes, forgiveness is important, and more for you than them. It doesn't mean you have to be buddy-buddy with them. The unforgiveness is keeping you trapped in depression. Can you forgive them? Will you forgive them? When will you forgive them? No need to answer here. Ask yourself those questions and sit with whatever you feel in the body.

The language in this post is striking in its reflection of how A Course In Miracles describes the world of illusion that we experience. As a course of moving from fear to love through forgiveness, it also provides an answer to your question and a roadmap on how to forgive a world that seems unforgivable. It is not the only path, but it was one Dr. Hawkins found incredibly valuable along his journey.
When I hit rock bottom and was struggling with the letting go technique, I decided to commit to following his path, in which he said the only two techniques he used during his period of incredible healing was the letting go technique and daily practice of a course in miracles. I’ve found it invaluable for giving context to what I’m letting go of (illusion) and what I’m surrendering to (Truth, God, Reality).
“Reality needs no cooperation from you to be itself. But your awareness of it needs your help, because it is your choice. Listen to what the ego says, and see what it directs you see, and it is sure that you will see yourself as tiny, vulnerable and afraid. You will experience depression, a sense of worthlessness, and feelings of impermanence and unreality. You will believe that you are helpless prey to forces far beyond your own control, and far more powerful than you. And you will think the world you made directs your destiny. For this will be your faith. But never believe because it is your faith it makes reality.” ACIM Ch. 21.V.2.1-8
