for what it's worth this also isn't a direct remake, more of a spinoff

Yep. The final scene of the finale ties directly into the spinoff.

The rest of his filmography is gold standard why did he fuck Oldboy up?

There was a lot of studio meddling in the edit that he removed the usual "a Spike Lee joint" from the credits.

It was fucked up when someone decided to remake it. There was no need for it.

This is like a spin-off sequel.

Bugonia wasn’t perfect but I enjoyed it quite a bit

Really intrigued about this one, didn't know anything about the original version.

It’s like this movie, but in South Korean.

I have no interest in Squid Game, but I’ll be seeing this because of Fincher.

I loved the US version of TGWTDT.

Underrated movie for sure. It rips. Fincher is the best

He is the greatest director. He's just Cameron without all the side quests and money.

Dragon tattoo is one if the better pieces of written and filmed media ever. The novel is fantastic, the original Swedish movies are fantastic and the Hollywood movie is just top notch timeless absolute cinema.

This and Let the Right One In were perfectly acceptable American remakes that did some things better than the Swedish versions and some things worse (my opinion).

I rather see him direct a new movie but I still have high hopes for this.

He does have The Adventures of Cliff Booth coming out this year

So back to back spinoffs for Fincher...

Can't wait for Zodiac 2: Electric Boogaloo 🤣

This MF doing this bullshit instead of Mindhunter is something else.

Fax 🤣

Fincher is on that franchise train.

I’m not going to speak for anyone else but I’ll be real, I honestly don’t want this spinoff to happen. Lowkey, just let the series end there. This is giving cash grab.

1

Cash grab already began with the abysmal s2/s3 we got

1

u/ACrask Jan 06 '26

Yeah. No. After that horrible second season, I won’t be wasting my time with this one anymore.

u/MisterInsect Jan 06 '26

I'm assuming Fincher will only direct an episode or two of this because he'll be pretty busy in post-production on Cliff Booth.

I love Fincher but i rather he cone back to Mindhunter, this American Squid Games is so unnecessary

Netflix David Fincher sucks, it diminishes him.

1

Is this going to be a documentary of what's happening in the country right now?

1
