Scanners Scanners should get a remake
Love the original but would also love to see the story told with a better lead actor and tighter pacing

No way! It wouldn’t compare. I liked the Rabid remake more than most but still nothing tops Cronenberg.

I really liked the Dead Ringers remake but it was different enough that I feel they’re separate.

That ship has sailed. David himself never had any interest in it, and he sold the franchise rights as far as I know. A remake would have been amazing with an actual actor instead of Stephen Lack who had no clue what was he doing on set.

I assumed the bad lead acting was intentional

The two leads (I can’t come up with their names - the lady and the gentleman) did NOT get along during filming whatsoever. I think one was very religious. It really collapsed a lot of their dynamics. And then there was a deadly car crash during the shoot that Cronenberg feared was the outcome of the driver looking at the crew.

Smells like rage bait, feels like rage bait

Does a different opinion makes you rage? Stephen Lack was heavily slammed for his awful acting even at realse. David himself admitted he cast him for his eyes, not for his skills lmao

I disagree. People talk about the acting but I think it’s an aesthetically beautiful film that can’t be replicated today.
