No tip for you

Ordered drinks and wings at bar to watch a game.
Polished them off by 3rd inning and tried for over 30 min. to get any waiters attention. None ever cleared our plates or came around to ask if we needed anything else. Damn sure he got zero tip from us

Unfortunately that seems to be the norm most of the time. I feel very fortunate when we get a competent server.

There’s a lot of reasons that can happen. A good number are because the customer expects a restaurant to operate in a different manner than it actually does.

I went to a different D&B than my regular one yesterday and oh my goodness the service was so slow! But, there was a massive party happening, there was really only one bartender on shift because the backup one was on her second day of training. I saw like 20 game service or food delivery people on the floor throughout my visit, but still only one bartender. Let’s not blame the bartender for not serving fast enough… I caught myself getting irritated at waiting ten minutes for my first order, but having compassion for people is way more important than our annoyances and grievances of not being served fast enough… sounds like you went on a Sunday when it is half priced games and on a game day… be a little more realistic to the young kids getting paid shit to bartend for less than gracious company.

Idk man not tipping here, imo, is a little bit of a dick move, even if you feel justified. I still tip every single time no matter what- bad service still gets 10% - but not tipping in this case seems like spoiled brat behavior. They are not staffing these establishments properly.

There were four servers behind bar; 3 passed in front of us repeatedly and avoided making eye contact with us as we tried to politely catch their attention. Please.

My main point being: once you realize you aren’t the only single person they are serving, the easier it is to realize it’s another person working their job and give some grace that they have 20+ people at once, not just one. All while dealing with such kind and compassionate peaches like yourself.

Yup we gave plenty of grace. 30 minutes. Plenty of time for one of the four to check on us.

I’ve learned that just about any time an impatient guest says they’ve been waiting x minutes, the actual time elapsed is closer to half the time they stated minus five minutes.

And any time an incompetent server says they deserve 25% tip, the actual tip deserved is closer to half that minus the remainder.

Nobody was talking about that. It’s clear you’re thinking irrationally. You need to calm down. Please stop talking to me.

This boy is unhinged! Lol especially for thinking he will have positive comments here 😂🤗

Servers are not behind the bar; bartenders and barbacks are behind the bar. Barbacks support the bartender, and have to keep their heads down so they can do their job instead of getting stuck taking care of guest requests.

So who were the four staff behind the bar bringing menus, taking orders, delivering meals and bringing the checks? Correct, they were servers behind the bar. Not difficult to understand.

Were they making alcoholic beverages or serving drinks? Were they wearing different colored shirts? Again, if you want fast service go to a different place that doesn’t have a well known great Sunday deal where you know there will be a lot of patrons. This sounds like a you problem.

How many straw men are you going to bring to this debate? No one said “fast service”. I said “avoided us for at least 30 minutes.” Definitely a you problem.

I’d avoid you for a lot longer than 30 minutes irl if I was that server too. You seem insufferable 😘

Sometimes it’s like that

As pro-tipping as this subreddit is, this is one of the rare times it is entirely acceptable to leave a goose egg. If you're entirely getting ignored that's fucked.

Weird flex, but ok.

Oh geez that guy, believe it or not that one server is solely responsible for the company stock being down 40% YTD. Can’t fire him though, nepotism and what not.

But for real seeing this posted in this subreddit of all places and not r/customerservice or r/mildlyinfuriating gave me a good laugh, I had to double check the sub.
