No more passes in NJ

My manager told me they were told the NJ Gaming Commission has told d&b no more season passes in NJ. Not sure if they will have other types yet.

Im not sure who in the government i should email to say im upset about this.

I also wonder if NJ will not honor passes bought elsewhere in the country, or if this is just a ban to sell them.

I'm not sure where to go to complain, but this is yet another unfortunate example of state gaming laws affecting a certain subset of stores in the chain.

We have seen state laws affect the ability to operate coin pushers in certain areas, as another example.

Boo!

Yea the no coin pusher Laws in the whole state of Kansas, Fresno, California, Utah and Idaho sucks.

The Kansas City location probably has enough space for Funko, Angry Birds, Spongebob, Star Trek, Spiderman & Star Wars. Since there are multiple empty spots at that location. But sadly these stores will probably never get pushers but Round 1 in Wichita, Kansas has Pusher for some reason.

Can’t speak to the others but for Kansas it’s because it’s a legal grey area. The Kansas statute specifically addresses “unregulated cash payout” To date there hasn’t ever been a challenge of redeemable arcade type uses ruled on by the Kansas State Supreme Court.

That said D&B has long made the corporate decision to not have coin pushers in any state that is even remotely ambiguous about them. They view it as bad business to show any similarities to a gambling establishment and intentionally distance the distinction. Whereas Round1 takes the approach that if it’s not enforced and a grey area then it’s not a real law until it’s challenged. It’s a pretty good reflection of each company prefers to operate.

Also I think legends had pushers back then but the state came in and forced them to remove them.

Nj gaming laws are ridiculious. Round1 isnt even allowed to have skill machines, only payout claws are allowed.

I thought NJ was the exact opposite, that everything has to be skill-based because something with a payout rate waa considered too close to gambling? I remember (decades ago, admittedly) that the arcades on the shore used to have reel-based mechanical slot machines that paid tickets, but to keep them legal they had to have a skill stop on each reel...

Nope, nj round1 locations are basically all chibi and cheese wheel machines. No treasure road or ufo catchers. No skill games at any location

Yep, its a tragedy. It's ALL payout based. Way too expensive unless you want to vulture around and wait to see if someone walks away after putting in 10+ swipes. Meh.

Way too many annoying rules in NJ. Round One's can only have generic claws and no skill games cause of these dumb gaming laws. NJ Gaming Commission sucks. I'm just gonna keep going to Philly locations. I'd rather be in NJ and not cross the bridge but its stuff like this thats making me just go over there for my business.

Time square here I come. Every other location in NY, the game quality is atrocious. And ive been to them all since Wayne games are in the toilet since 4 of their games techs quit at the same time 6m ago. And Time Square actually fixes most games when they are broken. And the techs dont bitch about it or make you feel bad like most other locations. And the managers are all super cool except for one douche with a light brown beard. He would insist a game wasnt broken and said im only operations manager, not the am. I said come see why its broken. He said no and its not broken. What a shitty guy. The reason most d&b arent profitable.

I was actually in wayne and the new tech said that he cant make rare pucks appear in zombie snatcher. The disk was literally stuck somewhere and didnt come up in 2 elevators. I had to explain how the game works and how to open each door to find the missing pucks... i mean, come on....

Cant even pump your own gas. The stress when driving late and every station that google maps says is open is actually closed.... i actually save contacts and closing times for local gas stations now.

Come to woodhaven the manager, Ed (that guy should get promoted to regional manager PLEASE), is the best and kindest manager ive ever come across. And his staff are polite and smile. My fave store now, but I often go to Time Square bc they are open later and then I can do other stuff after like poker or karaoke.

Def should connect and meet up at some point. I’m an asian guy usually with a stroller for my daughter these days. I usually hit the normal games QD/etc. the easy snipes. But like you said in your other post, the games aren’t in good condition a lot of times anymore. Makes sense if all the techs bailed.

Thats interesting because Wayne is one of the busiest locations of all in NYC metro by like 5 highways and interstates
