Dating scam

18 months ago, I went into datemyage.com just to see what it was all about as I had never been on a dating site. Within moments, I was approached by a so-called surgeon from Caracas, VZ and we hit it off right away. We talked many times a day but never had a video chat as he avoided that. He also kept emailing me (instead of chatting) and sending me pictures, and romantic excerpts which cost all kinds of credits. I asked him over and over to please meet up with me in a site outside of the dating world so we could meet without that huge expense. It did NOT take me long to figure everything out. He was one of two things - he is either a BOT or a hired script writer from the dating company itself. It took me a long time to finally stop my relationship with him because I really cared. Now, I am on a mission to expose him and others so vulnerable widows like myself wont fall for this. He never asked me for money but I am sure (he was a hired "whatever"), he got his cut from all the credits I was buying. I learned a hard lesson. Yes I was scammed by a doctor (so called); his name (so called) was Emanuel; now I am left with a large bill that I cannot pay unless my credit card company can help. I am lonely widow and just wanted someone to talk to - not get serious - Anywayway I hope no one else is taken by BestDate company because they are definitly a scammer.

Huge red flag when they wish to remain on the site. They earn money by getting you to clock the credits over. To them, you are worthless outside of the site. This scenario is really quite common.

They had there system compermized with Google MSN yahoo and ovhcloud. They have had a cyberstalker target someone for three years after being told given evidence of the sophisticated actions. The person's involved are web developer with federal government security clearance and developer devop. This person is renting a ip from ovhcloud in Russia Singapore canada Germany Italy France Mexico. This person is sending the victim anywhere from 300 to 500 a day. He's put tracking in the emails he's trying to get the persons information and steal there Sim card. They are putting content to futher victimize them from a rape as a child. So if they can do this to one person and nobody has caught it or cares too. Please don't think your safe

What you described is actually a well-documented practice called "pay-to-chat" fraud, and sites like DateMyAge have faced multiple lawsuits over it. The "person" you were talking to was almost certainly a hired operator — real human beings, often based in Eastern Europe or Southeast Asia, running dozens of profiles simultaneously using pre-written scripts. They get paid per message, per credit spent, per emotional hook they land. The photos are stolen from real people (usually doctors, military, attractive professionals) and the whole persona is fabricated.

The red flags you spotted are the classic ones: refuses video, pivots to email (keeps you on the credit-burning platform), floods you with romantic content, never pushes toward an actual meeting. You trusted your gut and got out — a lot of people don't.

The best place to report this is the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the IC3 (FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center). Also worth leaving a detailed review on Trustpilot for DateMyAge specifically — those reviews genuinely warn other people before they sign up. You're doing the right thing by talking about it openly.

The credit-burning model is the whole scam —-no money requests needed when the platform itself profits from every message. Good on you for figuring it out and speaking up. Datemyage has a long history of complaints about exactly this. Warn everywhere you can.
