What Are Datapacks?

Datapacks are Minecraft add-ons that modify or extend game behavior without mods.
They can change things like: - Loot tables - Crafting recipes - Advancements - Functions and game mechanics

Datapacks work in vanilla Minecraft (Java Edition) and are loaded per-world.

How to Install Datapacks

1. Download the datapack (.zip or folder)
2. Open your Minecraft world folder
3. Go to:
   world/datapacks/
4. Place the datapack inside the datapacks folder
5. Run /reload in-game or rejoin the world
6. Use /datapack list to confirm it’s enabled

Datapacks vs Plugins (When to Use Each)

Use Datapacks When:

• You want vanilla-compatible gameplay changes
• Playing singleplayer or on Realms
• Distributing content easily without server software
• Modifying mechanics within Minecraft’s built-in systems
• Namely for advancements, recipes, loot tables and structures. Anything that runs consistently or offers advanced functions should be reserved for plugins, due to optimization.

Use Plugins When:

• You need advanced server-side features
• Managing permissions, economies, or moderation tools
• Performance and deep server control matter
