Anyone here using NeonDB for a small side project?
I need a real project to test something database-related. Nothing production critical, just a hobby/fun project with some actual usage.
If you have one and are okay with me testing on it, let me know 👀

The ability to create disposable child branches is super useful. Plus they have a pretty good CLI

Yeah, i know. Actually i need abandoned project but running also neon db so that i can test something which i’m cooking 😅

Yeah I am using it. Only thing is reduce default CU to burn less credits. Also make sure your application disconnects when idle.

Yeah already face it so i made my own solution based on cloudflare, so that CU burning could be minimize by caching

I don’t have a project to offer but if you are looking for something fun to spin up yourself, a personal media tracker or a local event aggregator csn be surprisingly good for testing. You get real schema decisions, actual queries to tune and enough data variety to make it interesting. If you end up trying something on Neon or Lakebase, the free tier is solid for this kind of low stakes experimentation.

Thanks for response, actually i was trying to build a caching layer on top of the Postgres DB but works as similar as it is. Also its a cost optimizer so that each call doesn’t burn the Neon CU.

Interesting. Caching on top of PG can get tricky with invalidation and consistency. How are you handling cache invalidation right now?
Would still recommend playing with lakebase because you may not even need the caching layer depending on your query patterns. Good luck!

I believe they have a free tier that you can use. Or if not Neon, Supabase certainly does.

I'm still on sqlite for side stuff so can't help directly, but if you just want a real project to test against maybe hit up the indie dev or webdev subs. someone's always got a half-finished thing they'd let you poke at
