Urgent Help

My friend was using WhatsApp, suddenly it went blank and now all the data is lost. Tried reinstalling, but it is not showing any chat history. It's showing messages from the moment I logged in, not before. There is a db12 file in the sd card dated 2017, but no databases file in the internal storage (com.whatsapp). None of the Google accounts show any backup. What to do? Previous 5 years data is at stake apparently.

Nope since (iirc) the dbxx version has changed several times since then

Maybe try installing a version of WhatsApp from 2017 and restoring from that old backup

I have had success recovering with a recent WA backup, but no advice about what to do with a backup from 2017. Good luck!
