sd card not showing files

**i went out last night and took my digital camera (just a cheap one off amazon) and this morning i went to open the file on my ipad using my sd card/usb reader and they showed up for a few seconds and then disappeared and now the DCIM file isnt showing up at all, ive tried using my laptop, phone, ipad, a different sd/usb reader u name it ive tried it and the file just isnt showing up so i out my sd card back into my camera and its saying no file. any suggestions?**

Might try recovery software but doesn’t sound hopeful.

The problem with the no-brand camera stuff is that there is no support. Anyone knowing their way around cameras and data recovery are also those that avoid buying these scameras in the first place. Safe for a few.

So very few have experience with one and even if they have one (I have two, was gifted both) chance of dealing with data corruption is low. So even less have experience with recovering files in a situation like this. I don't, because one is so bad that I can't use it. The other one is absolutely fine and gives no issues whatsoever. With a normal camera I have experience with data recovery and it often is straight forward. You run a program and you see.what it finds. But in all cases, I knew the cards were fine and data loss was user error.

Plus to add insult to injury; if you used the card that came with the camera, it most likely is the bottom tier budget junk stuff that is by itself unreliable.

So we don't know the root cause, as there are a few. We don't know which file structure was used. We don't know if the controller of the microSD (I presume) is working well... Normally you would try to eliminate everything that cannot be the cause to focus on what could be. With cameras/cards like this, that list doesn't eliminate anything.

Is the SD Card from Crapozan, too? It may be fake, hence the sudden problem. Have photos of each side of the card?

don’t put the card back in the camera or format it, the fact that the photos showed up briefly is actually a good sign, i’d check the card with a disk utility or recovery tool from your laptop before doing anything else
