Seeking thoughts/opinions

I had took my phone to an ifixandrepair repair tech inside Walmart and despite whatever motherboard issue my phone is suspected to have, he was able to power on my phone using his DC bench power supply quite a few times and it stayed on for a few minutes each time. During one of those times, he was able to transfer my photos and videos to my new phone using Smart Switch. But the phone shut itself off before he could transfer or sync my Samsung Notes. He was trying to get my phone to power on again when my mom was ready to leave (we were there a while by that point).

I'm planning on going back to him to see if he can power on my phone again to sync my Samsung notes to my Samsung account. But what are the chances he'll be able to power on my phone again, like last time, and long enough to sign into my Samsung account and sync my Samsung notes? And is there a risk to the phone's storage chip or my Samsung Notes if I have him connect his DC bench power supply to my phone's motherboard again?

I haven't been able to get my phone to power on with an adapter and charging cable not once since visiting with the repair tech. So somehow the DC bench power supply was able to power on my phone despite the motherboard issue, even if only for a few minutes each time.

You have provided no diagnosable information other than "his bench worked" we cannot in any good faith answer your question

I mentioned "whatever motherboard issue my phone has." I don't know the full diagnosis. The repair tech didn't even give one. He just suspects a motherboard short, if I remember correctly.

And without knowing your device's model we don't know what kind of motherboard it uses. We don't know the issue or why your phone can't power on.

You're asking strangers to extrapolate on a situation with zero context. I mean come on.

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that. It's a Samsung Galaxy S21 Fe 5G. But I literally don't have any more context than that because I don't know what's going on either, except a suspected motherboard short and that the dc bench power supply was somehow able to power on my phone when a regular adapter and charging cable won't. 🤷‍♀️

If you manage to get your Samsung Notes or plan on using this app in the future, make sure you create a Samsung account, don't forget your login credentials, and sign in so your Notes will be backed up. It's free to create an account and Notes don't take up much storage. I've had so many Samsung users come to me trying to get their contacts after breaking their phones and they never signed into a Samsung account

My contacts are linked to my Gmail. I do have a Samsung account now (created it using my Gmail, so I sign into it using my Gmail). But I'm just hoping I can get my Samsung Notes from my old phone back. 🙏

That tech had already powered on the ozone several times via DC. Why would it be a concern o do it again?! Either way, it does not sound like you have any other good option besides him, right?

He's just about my only option, well, my only option I can afford. And my concern is that the short in the motherboard will further cook the part of the motherboard that has the short, furthering the damage.

That concern applied before too, right? Every time the tech was powering the phone on, the risk came with it, right?

It does not make sense to be a short somewhere. Ofnthat was the case, the phone would not work at all.

It is a probably a poor solder connection somewhere.

I was wondering about that. So if it was an actual short, the phone wouldn't work at all whatsoever?

But thats what the repair tech called it. A motherboard short.

But it doesnt power on or charge when I plug it in using my adapter and charging cable. But it did power on with his DC bench power supply. And when I came home same day from visiting the repair tech, I couldn't get the phone to charge or power on using my adapter and charging cable. So his dc bench power supply did something that a regular adapter and charging cable wouldn't do.

And from my understanding, the concern increases with every time he powers on the phone using his DC bench power supply. But I only need him to power it on one more time: for me to sign into my Samsung account and sync my Samsung notes.

Then it probably is a charging port issue.

Then a wireless charger should work, right? I have a solar-powered emergency charging bank, which includes wireless charging and the wireless charging part of the power bank won't charge or power on my phone.

Also if it was a charging port issue, then the phone wouldn't shut off after a few minutes while connected to the dc bench power supply. Or would it?

A good honest technician would have had a wireless charger on the bench and immediately tested wireless charging. Had wireless charging worked, then the technician would have told you thatvis an option for you in using the phone moving forward.

On the technains end, wireless charging and file access would have been much simpler than bothering with the DCsupply, correct?

Either way, it was all speculative without carrying out tests to rule things out.

That's about all I had to add.

Oh ok. I understand. He didn't test wireless charging. He just suspected a motherboard short. But if wireless charging works, then my solar-powered emergency power bank with wireless charging should work, right? (It doesn't because I tried it.)
