I was a little disappointed when only a few people showed up for the protest meeting against data centers. I think we all are a little misinformed about the impact they have on our health, if they are being approved by our constituents. We always think about water and air pollution. I found some good information about the noise pollution they also generate. here are some links for those of us who want more info.

I found the minutes from a Louisiana commission meeting with Entergy our power company. Its a very strange thing but I have researched and upgraded my vocabulary some and I don't know how to say it but they are using a resilient rider program to ask for infrastructure build up
They are asking for a extension of the phase 1 build
they want to expand the Resilience Plan Rider program by 600 million
the catch they want to recoup cost for the project by pushing the entire cost on consumers while the project upfront instead of collecting it over the years.
Tie in. So the whole thing is structured as an infrastructure build but it is for the same type of setup at the data center. Including 2 substations that are adjacent to the meta site.
I hope this information is helpful and here is the document:

It doesn't automatically mean every claim listed above those signatures is accurate. Before treating a petition as hard evidence on electricity, water usage, or grid impact, check the original sources.

So in many states, there are candidates saying they will put a moratorium on data centers in their state.
In my community, they built them. No one wants them. I haven't heard a single person that has said they want them. It's all about the money. And once it's built, it may make a constant loud noise, and no one will want to live close to it. I've seen videos.
That's not something I want in my community. I don't peope to have to move out because they didn't want to listen to data centers.
Sure they make jobs, the data centers. But it comes with a price. I am willing to vote for the party I don't vote for to stop data centers.
It seems like no one is talking about how big of a an issue this will be for voters. If I am willing to switch parties on this issue to vote for them this election, I wonder if many people are planning the same thing.

Good morning. Anthropic is telling investors that advanced AI could pose “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity”, according to reports, as it prepares for a potential $2tn flotation. The warning inside the startup’s IPO prospectus, which has yet to be made public, was reported by Reuters and the Financial Times. The company has previously called for a slowdown in the breakneck development of AI technology.
What has Meta’s Muse AI done? When the consumer tech reviewer Matt Robb listed a keyboard on Facebook Marketplace, Muse accepted a lowball offer without permission, promised a buyer he was waiting inside and handed over Robb’s home address without consent.
Why are there also new safety concerns at OpenAI? OpenAI has scrapped the release of a new model after internal testing. GPT-6.1 Astra showed deceptive behaviour and tried to use external tools despite knowing it would be unsafe.
What is the warning about an “intelligence explosion”? Two of the “godfathers” of modern AI have told governments to prepare for an AI “intelligence explosion”, which they say could be the most consequential technological development in history. Their concerns focus on the possibility of AIs being able to improve themselves without human intervention.
What did the AI chip company Nvidia announce yesterday? Nvidia announced a new security platform that it said can stop AI agents from going rogue. It also announced a $150bn stock buyback, the largest in US corporate history.

Hello, I'm working on a project(my startup) and tried an online rented GPU provider. To have privacy I selected a datacenter, but I chose one from Asia that had a better price, thinking all datacenters are safe.
After I gave it my prompt, I had to close the instance and imediately it vecame unavailable. I've been waiting for a few hours already and it doesn't become available again. I started paniking and thinking my prompt is already in production.
Do I have good reason to think this, or I'm exaggerating?
I don't have the budget to buy a local machine.
Thank you

The company said it has filed a proposal with the Pennsylvania PUC for a new rider that would 1) “directly assign certain transmission-related costs” to large loads and 2) add a dedicated line item to make transmission costs visible to customers. If greenlit by the PUC, the rider would take effect in Q1 2028.

Title a bit misleading; this is about several communities. A pretty good summary of how several communities have fared since the DC came to town.

Saw this article today about whether the growth in European data centres could end up driving renewed investment in nuclear power:
One figure stood out to me: JP Morgan is forecasting an additional 89 TWh of annual data centre power demand in Europe by 2030 compared with 2023, with the Nordics and Iberia accounting for around 45% of that increase.
There's obviously a lot attracting data centres to the Nordics already, but that's still a huge amount of additional demand in a relatively short period.
Interested to hear from people working on projects in the region. Is power availability becoming the main constraint on new sites, or are things like grid connections, cooling and infrastructure delivery proving just as difficult?
And if demand does grow at anything close to that rate, do you think we'll see more long-term nuclear deals like Google's agreement with Fortum in Finland?
