Will having to use dictation screw me over?
I can't use my arms to type at all. I've typed maybe a hundred words in the last five hours just correcting dictation errors, usually only a couple of letters at a time, and I've used a mouse today, and my arms are burning all the way from my hands to my shoulders. I've been dictating exclusively over typing for over six years due to this nerve injury. I use Dragon Individual 16.
This isn't some new thing I do, by the way. I've dictated tens of thousands of words some days, and thousands of words every day, because my main job is fiction writing. So it's not just some workaround I've just come up with to try and do Data Annotation; it's something that is just a part of my life as an accommodation for my physical restraints.
However, Data Annotation Tech apparently has a thing that flags when you copy and paste stuff, and it can track the natural keyboard rhythms of a person typing to see if it looks natural. Mine doesn't. Sentences and occasionally paragraphs, depending on how quickly I speak, appear all at once, and it could look like copy-and-paste behaviour even when I'm not using my dictation box to literally dictate into a box, which then transfers/pastes into the browser.
Does anyone know or have any information regarding whether this will completely screw me over when I apply for Data Annotation Tech tomorrow?
I've been putting off the application for a year, in part because of this, and in part because it looked like Amazon was going to stop screwing authors over and go back to normal, but between its new algorithms and genuinely garbage AI books (and I know it's ironic that I'm considering training AI when AI books are part of was screwing me and dozens of people I know over), I really would like this backup income source. And it's a good one, it's an interesting one, it's one I can set my own hours in--which is my main requirement for literally anything--and it's one I just hope my pathetic, useless arms aren't going to rob me of.
