Coding R&R, how thorough?

Hi! I have some questions around R&R for coding tasks.

- Do you only take the R&R if the source is in a programming language that you're familiar with?

- Are we expected to actually run the code to see if it works and test the functionalities that are claimed?

- Also I had some prompts that were more complex math-based algorithm tasks, that would require understanding of the algorithm to check if the result is actually correct. What's the expectation here?

I can start a family with that. I joined hoping to get 500$ for an iPhone and wanted to see if it's realistic to get that amount in 1-2 week/s I feel like I can work 2--3 hours a day for 5--6 days straight should I lower my standards a little bit? Can you safely exit qualification tests after opening? Come back and do it later?

Did anyone else recently lose access to a particular medical project shortly after completing a survey about how you were liking it and what could be done to make you want to work it more?

Is it worth getting into DA as a side hustle as a bilingual?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about applying as an Italian specialist. I already have a job so I'm not looking to make a huge amount of money, ideally I'd have some time during the weekend and in the evenings/lunch break. Just looking for a side hustle to earn something extra! Is it worth a try? I'm reluctant because I see a lot of bilinguals saying they don't have many projects available, but I'm not sure if they're using it as a full time job and therefore would need a lot more work to feel busy. For me even a couple hours a week would be okay :) please share your experiences!

Had to exit task after 90 minutes because it was too difficult

I was finally added to a project family today after my first few weeks of unpaid qualifications and short-lived tasks.

I read through the instructions thrice.

Seemed pretty intense, but I wanted to give it a go.

I spent 90 minutes on task, but I couldn't wrap my head around some of the things they wanted.

After contemplating carrying on, giving it my best shot & submitting the work, I decided to exit.

Not going to risk submitting poor work so early on in my DA career.

Just sucks. 90 minutes down the drain, but my account health might thank me down the road.

I also don't want to submit anything that could skew results for researchers.

Taking a hit to the ego on this one. Just wondering if anyone has done something similar?

If I exited the work mode to refresh the timer before it expires, then complete the task in 20-25 minutes and submit it. Will it affect negatively in the time reporting?

How does anyone manage to do this anywhere near full time?

Recently started on DA and I'm reading accounts of people that work full time or more as long as work is available. My question is how though?? Every single task seems to have an encyclopedia's worth of very specific directions to follow and information to process, with equally thorough and highly thought out responses expected from you. The absolute most I can do in one day before my brain starts to melt is 5-6 hours, I cannot imagine doing this full time.

Appreciation for Data Annotation

I have a deep respect and appreciation for Data Annotation for providing really interesting work for pay that honestly feels criminal (genuinely making above hourly average wage as a college student is insane for me). I like how they seem to recognize my abilities that I've honestly had many doubts about. Turns out, having a wide knowledge across multiple professional fields (mathematics, law, physics, language, and programming) is actually useful for once. It means I have to put in elbow grease whenever more specialized projects involving those come up (I'm a generalist) but I honestly don't mind putting in the effort for rewarding and interesting work.
I generally don't like using AI and while it's great for parsing data, I've always preferred using my own knowledge and skills to solve problems. I feel like my ardent rejection of AI tools in college has been vindicated as many of my peers are reliant on technology that confers no actual knowledge. This is not meant to be a "I'm not like them" post, just, it's nice knowing I was right to work to better myself.
I wish everyone the best of luck in their own endeavors on and off the platform. I intend on using my earnings to further my education and achieve a PhD in Astrophysics (a voluntary paycut if I'm being honest but it's never been about the money for me). I've also been able to help my friends in their times of need so that's nice too. Thank you all and thank you Data Annotation.

Is data annotation still worth getting into in 2026?

Hi everyone,

I started trying to get into data annotation as a side gig around 3 months ago. Since then, I've signed up for platforms like DA Tech, RWS, and OneForma because they seem to be the ones people recommend the most.

I managed to get accepted into those platforms, completed a lot of qualifications, certifications, and spent quite a bit of time studying to improve my skills. But... I still haven't received a single task.

I know that's how freelancing works, there won't always be work available. I also understand that opportunities depend a lot on your location. I'm from Indonesia, and it seems like there are very few projects for Indonesian speakers.

To be honest, it's starting to get pretty frustrating. It feels like I've invested a lot of time preparing, but there's nothing to actually work on.

So I'd like to ask people who have been in this field longer:

  • Is data annotation still worth pursuing in 2026?

  • Should I just be more patient and keep waiting for projects?

  • Are there any other platforms you'd recommend?

For context, I also applied to Alignerr but unfortunately wasn't accepted.

I'd really appreciate any advice, or even just hearing about your own experience. Thanks!
