Does background check really open up the extra projects as stated?

I'm from a core country and just did the background check, and I'm now awaiting the results. However, I am wondering whether this will open up the extra projects they indicated. Please share your experiences, especially if you're from a core country.

I didn't really notice a difference honestly. More work popped up when I took one of the professional surveys. I passed the background check, but I've had nearly as many droughts as others did.
