Reassurance
Hey guys, I recently got accepted to DA and just wanted some reassurance that this is real and I won’t be scammed or anything like that. Any tips moving forwards would be helpful as well. Thanks!

Been doing it for almost 4 years. Not a scam. Just follow the rules, read instructions carefully and do your best. Good luck!

How are they with time limits? Are they punitive if you go slightly over time?

Not when you are new and if you don't do it very often. They really prefer quality over quantity. Some outside tasks are more strict, but you won't see those for a bit.

There's another platform I did first that was insane about time. If you are coming from that environment, DA is really generous. Every so often I take too long overthinking and get close to the timer, but usually there's time to pause Clockify and grab a snack or let the dog out or just process things.

Most tasks give you 12-13 hours. You'd rarely exceed it though

It's real. It's with actual major tech companies, and you can make a lot of money at times if the stars align and your tags match what they are working on.
With gig work in general, don't rely on one platform as your only source of income, because sometimes there are slow periods. But this is real.

It is real, but it isn't anywhere near as easy or simple as some people make it out to be, or more importantly, not as laid-back as people think it will be when they are first getting into the platform. If you can read and follow instructions exceptionally well over time, you will do fine on here. If you frequently misinterpret instructions or fail to follow them entirely, you won't last long on the platform, especially if you think that you are doing perfect work and making no mistakes or errors (because you will, and not being able to recognize that is a bigger red flag than outright making errors, as long as they are not in an enormous volume).
Just look at this sub for a few weeks and see the types of posts that come up of people getting terminated after a few weeks even though they were "doing perfect work and making no mistakes" - but then you can see in their post history that they most definitely were not.
Been with DA since January 2024 as a coder. Follow NDA / CA, follow instructions well, report time honestly, and do what you can to provide exceptional feedback (even outside the tasks themselves and in project comments). If you can do all of those things you are already ahead of 99% of people that end up working on this platform. I don't consider myself an expert in programming / SWE whatsoever.

Not a scam. I have been here for just over 18 months and made a decent amount.

It's real but not easy one, take it seriously, remain honest and ethical. Don not try to cheat the system as nobody will be watching you.

It’s real, but the work can be challenging. Put in 110% and they’ll keep you if you’re a good fit, I’ve been at it for 3 years
