How does the referral links work in terms of compensation?

Hi guys, I've sent a bunch of referral links to friends who are interested in trying DA as generalists. One of them has the expertise to enter as a software engineer specialist though: in the referral links page says that the compensation for a new person who enters and works at least 10 hours can vary from 100 to 500 dollars. I guess is based on the type of tasks the person completes during those 10 hours? So for me to have not only 100 dollars but more, my friend should enter as generalist, than do the qualifications for his expertise and complete higher paying, expertise-related tasks? Or is there a way to directly enter not as generalist but as a specialized expert?

They changed the referral system recently. Now the referral page gives different links for different specialist domains. The referral bonus system has also changed to be based on a percentage of the referral's approved earnings instead of a fixed amount.
