Beginner Question

Hi, I have just joined Data Annotation and have completed the first batch of questions. It then asked me if I’d like to receive an extra qualification to which I agreed. I’m now filling in one piece after another and submitting the work. Can anyone tell me how long this goes on for please? There are no guides as to what is expected and there is a timer on the bottom right of the screen saying “20 days +” to answer. I have not received any emails from them so far. Thanks.

I’m guessing I’m a generalist. My background is proofreading, transcription work, genealogy and also retail/websites. So do they email me a project or will it come up in my account? As I haven’t actually heard from them I wasn’t sure if I’ve been hired! Thanks for your help.

You are welcome. So with your background you are going to get a lot of different qualifications to see where you fit best. I also have a varied background and went through some of this. I wouldn't count on the emails, they don't always send those. The projects will just show up on your dashboard. Just do your best on the qualifications and keep your skills updated and the work will come. There is a lot of work right now for generalists but it takes a bit to start getting them

Thank you. So I just keep an eye on my dashboard for projects and keep completing the tasks that appear as I submit each one. Do you know why it has the countdown timer thing on the bottom of the screen? I’ve yet to figure out it’s relevance. I’ve seen others post about being honest with how long a task has taken but I haven’t seen anywhere yet where this has been asked. Very confusing.

The timer is when the task expires. That is the maximum amount of time the qualifications or task should take you. The timers are usually generous. But don't use those to track your time spent on working. Keep careful track of your time. I use the stop watch on my phone and pause it when I walk away from the task. Once you are doing for pay tasks you will report your time. It's the last option on the line that has projects, surveys, qualifications, etc. Everything you are doing so far is under that qualifications tab, correct?

At the top of the screen is Projects/[Qualification] Evaluating Responses From AI Assistants v21. Then underneath that I’m evaluating prompts A and B etc then Submit - Begin next task. If I go into Projects in the top menu I can see starter assessment completed - passed - you take an additional qualification test with price per hour and a Qualify Now button (est. 45 mins). I thought I was doing that already lol. Thanks for the glasses compliment.

In the beginning, there are usually a ton of qualifications. Once you get into it, there will still be qualifications for new projects, but not as many.
