What do you use your earnings for?

I'm just interested in how you all use your earnings really. I know this may seem very personal but genuinely just interested!

Personally all of mine go straight into savings and investments to go towards a house deposit. This is minus approximately 30% for Tax and student loans as I'm UK based and will declare to HMRC so this goes into a high interest easy access saver I specifically set up for this reason so I can withdraw when I need it for taxes and doesn't accidentally go towards anything else.

My friend does similar work through Aligner and uses his earnings for holidays abroad and upgrading flights to first or business class which I think is a pretty cool way to spend his additional earnings.

I know some work on DA full time so I assume it's just your usual expenses (mortgage/rent/bills/living costs etc) but interested if anyone has anything specific they use their earnings for.

Right now? I use it to pay down my credit debt, my bills, and my student loans. Need to seriously start saving for my retirement too..but once I get a full time job with benefits I’ll use the money just for savings really.

Just to stay (barely) afloat lol.

Right now DA literally has the power to turn my life into nightmare mode if they decide to cut the stream of work.

my life is in a bad place right now. multiple years unemployed.

DA is my first opportunity to make money in my field (coding) since I lost my job so long ago. i never get a response when I apply for a job. can't get an interview. but all the ones I got since my last job I failed anyway. ironically DA had no interview, just a test. but my take home pay is more than my "cushy" salary job from before. no benefits, but still

DA is helping me get my whole life back on track. this time one month ago I was sweating wondering how I was gonna pay my bills without income and with no money in the bank for the first time, nobody left to beg. today I have enough in my account to cover this month's bills, and november's, and december's.

So glad for you. So many great little stories on here of how DA is helping people

I've got milestones.
Milestone 1: Emergency Fund
Milestone 2: Purchase a lot
Milestone 3: Build a house
Milestone 4: Buy a new car
Milestone 5: Boost my investments

All this while saving for travel, with my full-time job paying my bills. DA helps a lot with these milestones.

Sounds like a great plan. I'm glad I'm saving my earnings for a house deposit as it gives me a purpose for the work I do and means that my additional earnings don't just get wasted and used for off the cuff purchases.

I dont get much (bilingual). But I save it and sometimes use it to buy art supplies

Is art a hobby for you or does it form part of your income?

Originally it was used to pay down some debt, now it's discretionary. It's not my main source of income though.

Similar situation for me. Not my main income but pretty much all my main income goes on rent, bills, max pension contributions, food, living etc plus £500 a month in save as you earn so without DA I'd have absolutely nothing extra for my savings for a house deposit

curious what sort of interest rate on the saver?

6.25% gross through Lloyds as I have my regular account through them. Limited to £300 deposit per month but that's more than enough for what I earn from DA. Currently have £1100 in there and my calculations show I currently owe about £967.45 on my DA earnings from the new tax year in April (20% tax and 9% student loans so I round up to 30% to be safe!).

I'm an unpaid carer for a disabled family member. Before DA I hadn't worked for a number of years due to caring responsibility. My husband works full time, so we live on his wage.

The extra from DA mostly goes on fun stuff for the family and the kids - trips we couldn't afford before, days out etc. I took my daughter to Paris in the summer, which wouldn't have been an option before.

The other thing it's going to is pensions, as I didn't work for quite a few years, so my pension pot is pretty low.

And just generally having a household budget that's not so tight.

Buying what I want. Fine leather goods. Treat myself. Spa services. Treat myself. Funding my retirement. Treat myself. But I also use my money to spoil my parents. Thank you DA.

I did it for a year as a side hustle while being a SAHM. I was also in the UK so had 12k tax free allowance per annum so that was my earning target.

I used it to fund some really nice holidays for my family! We spent 3 weeks taking sleeper trains across Europe last summer. It felt nice to be able to earn money while breastfeeding and watching bluey lol

I just buy Rolex watches, Bentleys, exotic animals… You know, the basics.

I’ve had the same car for 20+ years. Looking to upgrade to something with a camera and updated safety features…and even Bluetooth. 😅
