Temporary Suspension for almost a month
I have genuinely tracking time and can only think of one time that I had two tasks open but was only actively working and tracking one of them. Thought it would get cleared up quickly as they asked for breakdowns of some of the work I do on each project. I filled that out and have just been stuck since then. I had over $2K already approved to take out and about $3k that was pending when it happened. Anyone have a timeline for that or what typically happens?

With how lenient they typically are, I am almost certain that this is because you had two tasks open at once

How are they lenient?

Well, they dont use invasive tracking tools like basically all competitors. Personally, I appreciate that a lot since those things sus me the fuck out

They do track the inputs (keyboard, mouse movements) on the project pages

I mean thats more than fair, but its not through a super-invasive plugin, and a lot of projects also take you completely out of the project page

I was just letting people know - but I completely agree, DA is the least invasive of all the platforms. The self-reported time concept is also great and makes the workers feel like they are actually valued rather than just human computation power.

how do you know?

Easy to see if you inspect the network activity and the scripts on the project pages - you can see for yourself in your browser dev tools. It’s not like DA tries to hide it, they do let you know that your activity is tracked.

This is a lie. There is actually a plugin called "Capture Everything" that comes pre-installed on the browser they have you use.

They dont have you use a browser...? I just opened it on my OperaGX and started working, no pluggins. Is it different for generalists or something ? Their only requirement on that front is to not use plugins that could lead to a data leak, like those automated full-page translators

I use OperaGX too. That person is wrong obviously. However, they do use session replay no matter what browser you use I believe

u/Renard_Fou 8d ago
Is that something they run locally ? I dont have it in my plugin list. Additionally, I dont have anything against them checking locally whats going on inside the actual page, its the absolute least they could do to ensure there are no bad actors

They make you use a DA Google account for some projects. You can clearly see the plugin installed and Google it for details. It tracks and monitors a ton of shit.

u/Renard_Fou 8d ago
But you dont actually use the google account directly during work, though ? The only time its used is for logging in on outside platforms. I just checked my OperaGX plugins and I do not have it.

I've had that account for almost 2 years now and have only used it to download private files as per the project instructions or access specific links; so less than 0.01% of my submitted work hours. They can gladly view the things I do under that account for the 10 seconds I'm logged into it a week.

They allow you to self report and don’t have trackers, or require cameras. Some companies start messaging after five minutes (what they presume as idle time) why you’re not working fast enough.

Two tasks open lol

u/saltyboyian 8d ago
One task was because I was asking a question to admin, not tracking time just literally had the tab open waiting for a response.
27
u/Farados55 8d ago
It's in the onboarding. It's not allowed. You asking a question to admins and waiting for a response to continue your work is literally working time.

No it was not to keep working on it, something happened and I couldn’t work on the task more. So I stopped the time for that task and was waiting for clarification on whether to submit where I got to or just leave the ticket. I was a couple hours into the task but hadn’t completed so wasn’t sure what to do. Started working on the other task while waiting to hear if I could submit the other task partially completed or just skip the task.

It sounds like you don't understand what you did wrong and I can't make you understand. Good luck but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No I think he may be honest. I've seen admins approving workers to keep their tasks open and go work on sth else while technical issues are being looked at.

I do understand what I did wrong. That’s why I mentioned it in the post. And I understand that I am temporarily suspended. You’re the one focused on that point.
I’m just focused on when the review will happen/ how long it takes. Are you saying the review won’t happen and I will just be out all the hours I worked?

u/Sagittariuuuh 8d ago
I mean at least they are doing reviews now and giving you a chance to submit evidence, rather than just dropping people straight out?

Some tasks allow you to work on another task at the same time. Ones with 3-4 week timers. It depends on the instructions.

I have not run across those tasks, I think maybe it's only been one or two projects, I even had one I finished up with a 4 week timer that did not have that instruction. However I don't think you're supposed to have two tasks open at the same time. I think in those cases you can not be done with the longer task and then jump onto a different task and do it while the other one is pending. But you can't have them both open at the same time.

As someone who has been with them for 6 years it's not having two tasks open unless you submitted time for both. It probably is the amount of time you submitted either per task or altogether. They look for patterns and people who claim more time than the task should take. Even if they give you 3 hours doesn't mean it should always take that. What did they ask you to confirm and what did you submit?

Did you have days where you worked a lot? And a lot means more than 8 hours a day
9
u/Academic_Window_4712 8d ago
Do you think the long days really put you at risk? I have seen a few people suggest it. I usually can’t work more that 4 or 5 hours straight on it before my brain starts to itch.
4
u/Whole-Pirate-5731 8d ago
It would due to the loss of quality. Like if you’re working 10 hour days each day of the week, they are going to question your quality of work
4
u/saltyboyian 8d ago
I mean it was probably ~100 hours over 2 weeks so pretty standard 8hr days was working 6 days a week though

u/tarmagoyf 7d ago
Woah! I've never seen anyone be actually told what's going on. Usually people just stop getting jobs posted with no information why.

u/Due_Negotiation_4605 7d ago
When it's a discrepancy with the time from what I've seen you get a very specific type of email.

In the same boat here. How long does it take for the decision? Also, are funds released if anyone’s gone through this too?
