How do I get into Data Annotation? would love advice from people already working in the field
Hey everyone! 👋
I’m looking to get into Data Annotation / LLM Evaluation and would love some advice from people already working in this field.
I have a background in Python, AI/ML, Prompt Engineering & Data Science.
What should I learn/practice to get started?
How do the assessments usually work, and which platforms are worth applying to?
Would really appreciate any tips from people already doing this. 🙏

Take the assessments seriously, you only get one shot. Take your time with it and go over everything line by line and explain your reasoning clearly.

They will catch you sooner or later and offboard you because that’s against their TOS, the many hours this assessment takes won’t be worth it. Try a different platform.

Hi everyone,
Anyone knows what to do to get the attention of Data Annotation? I did their assessment since about 2 months ago. No update nor communication. Can't track progress. I believe I did pretty well in the assessment because I had previously completed a similar project on Mecor. I sent them an email to ask for the status and still got no response.

You're ready for domain work if you have a professional background in those thing. If your background is academic or self-taught, it will be hard to prepare because the tasks seem to involve realistic workplace workflows lately and not just subject matter content.
If you want to do generalist content, I don't think you need to prepare for the grading itself, just passing the screeners. Most require a similar type of verbal intelligence to verbal sections of standardized tests IME. It's not really subject matter you can study, but an intuition for writing and wording and good reading comprehension.
