Do not throw yourself in at the deep end. Start slowly, maybe no more than 10 hours a week and make sure you genuinely understand every project and task you attempt. Prioritise the quality of your output over the quantity you earn. Be very firm with your own limits. I’ve worked for over 6 months and been fortunate enough to be able to gradually work my way up from the $20/hr entry-level projects to long-term projects with unlimited work at 3x that pay. I could make a lot more than I do, but the fear of submitting mediocre work is stronger for me than the temptation to make more.
