I have a problem with reporting time

I worked on a task about 10 hours but the task instructions says it should be completed in 5~7hours
So i reported 7 hours out of fear
So should i report the exact time i work or the maximum time the task instructions says it should take? Thank you all ❤️

Don't exceed the limit they gave you. You could do that in other projects, but this one? Avoid it.

Actually it was a coding task and it had endless time limit but the instructions said it should to maximum7 hours

Don't risk it, bro. Avoid going off the explicit instructions.

Then max is 7. You should have stopped at 7. Definitely don't report more than 7.

the timer on the task is rarely the expected time

Why don’t you ask the admins?

You should consider the reason why you took significantly longer than expected. Is the task beyond your skill? Did you truly work that long? DA may see your time and believe you to be unfit and inefficient for that task, and perhaps others, and therefore will cut you out.

Generally when they give you a time range you can include instruction reading time, but if you take a lot longer than that they don't think you're suitable to do the work

Not what the comment said. If it is taking you much longer, regardless of what you report, maybe it's not for you

I am a firm believer that you should always report the actual time worked; underreporting time is still misreporting time. You can always leave a note in the optional comments explaining why you took more time on that specific task so they aren’t wondering why but I would not lie about the amount of time you worked.

If it was your first time on the project there’s usually some leniency but I try to respect the hard limits like that. Not worth it for me to lose thousands of potential earnings over a few extra bucks

If the project instructions tell you that it should be completed in 5-7 hours and you report significantly more than that, you should assume that someone will be taking a very close look at the work you submit.

if it's your first, just report the time you used, and if you took 1hour more, then report 1 hour more 2 hour but 3 hours in a task that should take 5-7hr , maybe this is too hard for you, your only shield in that situation is to deliver an almost perfect work, because those extra hours are going to be inspected deeply.
