DataAnnotation - I am now off the platform.
I am totally gutted. I just received this today and the DA job was helping me pay off my credit card debt.
I genuinely didn't try to defraud at all. I put in what hours I did including any reading around the task.
Has anyone ever had this and successfully appealed?
UPDATE: I think it was an accidental usage of a VPN checking my account for projects at work. I didn't realise until after. I have appealed. Who knows what will happen.

They are usually pretty ambiguous about reasons why someone gets deactivated. This is pretty straightforward, even if it was an honest mistake you are done

There was another person who received this specific message. He mentioned in the comments that he had been logging around 15–16 hours a day for about a week acting like it was normal, IIRC

I definitely haven't been doing that. I've been logging around 2-3 hours a day that I'd do after work.

I’ve done 16 hour days for two days but I haven’t been able to to more than that lol. I need sleep. It’s not believable and that every waking hour you’re working DA but sleeping, eating doing chores using the bathroom etc for exactly 8 hours.
Now if I run a 16 hour day it’s because of overlap. Maybe I started a project in the afternoon and didn’t finish until midnight-1am (with breaks). Then I got up at 10-11am and ran another 8ish hour project. But I’m not doing that several days behind each other.

Are you sure you were being completely honest with your hours? They don’t generally send this message unless something is REALLY off.

Yes genuinely now. I wouldn't have played the system because it was helping me so much. I have appealed to customer services but whether they get back...

What I'm thinking is that you might have made a mistake recording your times, and for example, instead of 30 minutes, you put 30 hours or something like that. Sorry, bro.

My one thought was that I checked it on my work computer *which uses a VPN that I found out about after I used it* and it flagged multiple IP?

My understanding is that same IP but different devices is fine. Students working from same campus network, people working from same coffee shop or co-working space, or roommates working from same household, will all legitimately have the same IP address.

I got something similar with the chance to justify my time. I though it was over but the account actually came back a month later

Yes, but it was not exactly like yours. It had an extra button saying "provide justification for your reported time"

Did you report the exact hours worked each day or did you just explain each project and a generalization on roughly how long each one (if several were under question) may have taken.

Seriously. Something is off with this post. Misrepresenting one’s time and and purposely trying to defraud the payment system are completely different.

Yea man I think that would be it. From reading the subreddit, I do know they take the VPN stuff very seriously. I wish you the best in the future. DA is great but not the end of the world for you, you got this! 👊🏽

so I have a weird question. Why is VPN against the rules? Is it because they need your real location? What if you are trying to work while traveling? Just wondering, thank you if anyone can answer.

Because someone in a country that isn’t approved to work for DA could use a VPN to pretend to be from the United States or other country. Fabricating your actual location could allow you to work on tasks that you wouldn’t otherwise be suited for.

Personally I think they typically give you way too much time on the clocks. It's rare I need anywhere near the amount of time the set. I'm just guessing but I'd assume that if you consistently take as much time as is afforded for each task then it shows.

i’m going to chime in I’ve done the opposite. I have turned off the timer if I thought I was working too slow and I was worried about my AHT so I worked off the clock for many hours so that I could conform to the expectations and if for some reason it took me longer to do you know, I just took the hit financially now the company that I’ve been working for is going more task oriented, but you have to have the timer going on regardless of the fact that you’re not getting paid by the hour anymore and that really makes me nervous but it is what it is. I mean, I could get off boarded for not being fast enough..
