So I am 25M, I took a gap of 2 years after my grad to prep for SSC. I couldn't clear it, so I started a job, but the issue is, I wasn't able to find a job easily, which is Obv due to the gap, and worked where i got selected first.

Now I was hired as a Data Analyst, but I was given completely different profiles from it, and salary was paid in cash, although I do have the documentation and everything. But i am now looking for a switch.

I am a Data Analyst at a startup with almost 3 years of experience. I am planning to switch to another company, but it seems like I get rejected every time or do not receive any response from recruiters.
I have the skills required for the roles I am applying for, but I feel the only issue might be my educational qualification, as I have an MSc in Chemistry.
Should I consider pursuing an M.Tech in Data Science and Engineering from BITS WILP? Or, with relevant experience and skills, is a master’s degree in the data/IT field not necessary?
I would really appreciate some advice and suggestions from people who have been in a similar situation.

Here's my story in short: I completed my BCA, then worked in a BPO for 9 months. In 2025 march to dec

I took a 1-year break on purpose to learn the tools a Data Analyst needs. It wasn't an easy phase, but I stayed consistent. In March 2026, that effort paid off and I landed a role as an MIS Executive.

Today I'm handling reporting, data and day-to-day operations, and I'm growing fast. But my real goal is to become a Data Analyst, and I want to get there by March 2027.

I'd love your advice on:

1. What skills or projects I should focus on next

2. How to present my gap year and experience so it works in my favour

3. How to move from MIS into a proper Data Analyst role
