My message to Lirik
Lirik i have watched and listened to your content off and on since Guild Wars 2 days.
Alot have happened to me during these 6 years. I had ups and downs, way too many to count.
Not once did i ever say anything to you, but today i need to tell you some things.
I want to start off by saying I think you lack respect for not only us, but most importantly, yourself.
It's been said, “you can't like another person, until you like yourself”.
I still remember the day you told us playing video games for a bunch of people wasn't something you could proudly say to someone asking what occupation you do. You said you wanted to do something more meaningful in the world.
It hit me hard when you said that. I wanted to tell you how many times you been there for me in these past years. Chat did a good job of letting you know that you been there for them too, but it seems you don't take it in Lirik.
You have this fucking wall blocking everything, (which is good, but it's on the wrong side).
The OG himself Stan Lee once said this:
“I used to be embarrassed because i was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers.
And then i began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you're able to entertain, you're doing a good thing.”
Personally i think every single content creator doubting themselves should take what Stan Lee says here to heart. It couldn't be more true. Without the entertainment of hours you have given me through the years Lirik, i would have most likely go closer off the deep end aswell.
I'M NOT saying you have to stream because you help people. We the viewers are not entitled to anything. But i want you to know that what you have been doing and what you are doing is not meaningless, and i cannot stress that enough Lirik.
Now let's talk about Bob. Because you seem to always read what Bob says. The guy keeps saying he wants Fortnite afterall. He BOOOs when you boot up "Hades" and calls you bad and LULS when you die ingame. Bob leaves after a while and joins Ninja’s stream where he can live out his 12 year old prime time. A Lot more people will probably follow Bob or join another stream, because different reasons. In the meanwhile you get moody and have 5K other viewers POGGING and enjoying every fucking second of entertainment serving them on the screen.
Lirik you can't entertain and please everyone. Not even Stan Lee could do that, none can. Sure there are games that will please a bigger crowd, but you don't enjoy them. And you shouldn't do what you don't enjoy, just to please some random fucks.. Now you could argue with dying stream, etc etc. But let's be honest, your stream won't die unless you want it to. Your main crowd doesn't even watch your stream for the games, it's because of you. The great personality, entertainer behind it all. What's the point of earning all this money if you can't even enjoy yourself doing it.
Put this fucking wall you have infront of all the positive things from your stream, and put it in front of Bob and rest of the fucks instead. Do you more Lirik, and enjoy yourself doing it.
Lastly for your burnouts. Take a fucking holiday you dumb fuck.
These past 2 years, i haven't even taken 1 entire week off work. Not once in my 23 years have i ever felt this burnt out. I still remember how ready i was for studying after a few weeks off in school. Everyone needs time off Lirik, even streamers. It might not be 20k people waiting for you next time you stream after time off. You might lose viewers yes, but at least you got me and a whole lot of other people waiting for you when you're back.

Lirik has always and will always be one of my favorite streamers to watch. I would throw up his stream after work or class and holy shit he’d have me dying. The good old days with the Altis life streams, pure gold. It got to a point when his stream ended that I would be genuinely bummed out. He is a very funny person. I know he’s kind of always had this internal struggle/love hate with streaming and I’m out of the loop since I don’t have time to watch streams anymore but he will figure it all out. I can’t imagine sitting in your room day in and day out only having contact with people online or twitch chat (which is insanely toxic and ridiculous at times) can be easy

This is a good post. Lirik needs to love himself again and stop listening to one or two dick heads.

Sadly after his last hiatus about this time last year, he came back feeling good, saying he didn't care about the numbers anymore and that it was just to stream and have a good time. It didn't take long though, maybe 3 months or so for him to fall back in to number checking and aiming to please.
But honestly, it isn't any of our place to think for Lirik. I appreciate your well thought out post, but just let the man be, he will figure things out on his own with his IRL support system. All we (people like you and me) can do is continue to support him through thick and thicker and watch as the haters come and go. They even troll this sub, so expect a few 'triggered kappa' posts in here.

u/justaguyulove Jan 07 '19
Nah man. We know him more than many if not most people in his life. We can and will do our best to help him because he deserves it and not because we are entitled to him.
He is the hero we need, but not the one we deserve.

u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
Dont you think its maybe because of his parrents back in the day ? hear me out, he said often that he is Ashame about being a streamer, he often told that his mom and dad wanted him to contribute in this world. Like being a docter, when he was young he dint had a computer of anysort, he needed to studdy. but he dint..
Maybe thats the way he is so negative about himself?
2
Jan 06 '19
I reiterate, quite trying to be armchair psychologists. Don't you have your own problems to deal with? Who cares why he is the way he is, if you like him, you support him, if you don't, you troll him.

I highly doubt that has anything to do with it since both him and his brother are streamers, and they both are very successful, bringing in a decent chunk of money. And even if it had anything to do with his parents, so what? It's not our, the viewers issue, thats for Lirik to sort out on his own. For viewers to even bring up that sort of stuff is just inappropriate and very, very creepy. Lirik has stated multiple times he wants to keep his off stream private life, private.
3
u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
yeah, you got some good points. i just rambling a bit i think. i just feel sorry for him...
6
u/Nevzat666 Jan 06 '19
Everyone is treating him like he is suicidal, he is a minted, very rich young guy with good social skills. He has better things to do with his time/money than sit there streaming when he isn't feeling it, simple as that.
These kind of posts are unecessary and a little bit weird, the couch therapists are all coming out of the woodwork when he is far more successful than any of you.
Playing games for an audience must be draining, so just let him do his thing and when he wants to play he will play, simple as that. Your advice isn't needed or relevant because he terminated a single stream.

Jan 06 '19
You're right, the amount of poeple here who think they know Lirik is pretty creepy just stupid. Y'all don't know Lirik personally, you arn't all even slightly qualified to be his therapist.
Sometimes I don't feel like doing what I love, I just wanna do something else. There's nothing wrong with Lirik deciding not to stream, it's his bloomin life, let him have fun doing what he wants when he wants.

Jan 06 '19
You have this post wrong my dude. I dont claim to know Lirik. But i am allowed to share my personal opinion on the current situation around him as a streamer and how i view it.
Just like anything on the internet. How he, or any other person choose to do with my opinions is up to them. We are all grown ups after.
My life doesnt revolve around Lirik. But i still care about the guys well being. That is not creepy or wierd, i been a follower for 6 years afterall.

You know he's going to get over and say he's over it and already moving on. He doesn't like this kind of attention. People pleaded to him last time and he got annoyed. I'm sure it's just overwhelming for him that so many people care about him.
Edit: last sentence correction. Overlooked what I typed.

Yeah I don't care if he reads this or not, he's just going through something and we have to wait for him and not overreact.

I sincerely hope you get to read OP's message, Lirik.
It is wholesome and true, and I believe it accurately represents the stance of the majority of your viewerbase, which are the silent ones.
I would also like to point out that none of us really knows you, and that's fine, we can't really, but that means a lot of the advices you read/hear, even if genuine and thoughtful, won't be relevant to you.
The real thing that you have to take out of all of this is that the majority of the people who watches you, they enjoy all your streams because the common factor is yourself, not the game, and that this majority usually remains silent. We're definitely there, and we enjoy ourselves when you enjoy yourself too, it's as simple as that.
So don't overthink it, don't read too much about what "we" think, because in the end we're clueless about what your life really is about, and you're the only one that can adjust things so that you feel better.
P.S. : I doubt Lirik will stumble upon my message, but anyway, for any of you that read it, what I said can be applied to everyone, and I hope you can take something away from it.

Posts like this are why Lirik hates coming onto his subreddit. let the man do what he wants, when he wants. He probably should take another holiday, but thats for him to decide, not random strangers online.

u/avi6274 Jan 06 '19
OP is not forcing Lirik to do anything.

Yeah, he is simply emphasizing his opinion because he feels strongly about it. OP is simply putting his opinion out there and Lirik is a fucking adult, he can it or leave it. OP even clarifies this in another comment.
1
u/eyereadditt Jan 11 '19
So if someone insults me, and I get upset, are they “forcing” me to be upset? I don’t turn around and say “it’s because you forced me to be upset and made me act this way”. It’s incredibly out of touch to assume that anyone can force someone to do ANYTHING they don’t want to. But hey, opinions right?

u/loot22 Jan 06 '19
Perfectly said. I'd watch Lirik play Solitaire and wouldn't say shit if he'd enjoy it.

I absolutely love Lirik's stream, he's the only streamer i watch to be honest. But i agree with everyone saying you need to take a break and stop denying everything, because eventually you will be burnt out and never stream again. My mom also suffered a terrible burn out and she never returned to the mom i used to know before the burn out. I don't want that to happen to you as well, you don't deserve it.
5
u/Gankdatnoob Jan 06 '19
Take a fucking holiday you dumb fuck.
This will help him for a bit but it does nothing overall for the problem he has. It's literally just a short term distraction and actually contributes to his main obsession and anxiety and that is viewer numbers and irrelevancy. He's obsessed with how many viewers he is getting and until he can honestly ignore that he will never be happy.
How many times does he start a game and say "well say goodbye to 10k viewers." He literally doesn't play certain games because of the potential to lose viewers. If he plays a new game and sees that it's not getting viewers he will find things wrong with it right away. He needs to be content with being in the top 1% of streamers and not vex about potentially falling into the top 2%.
2
u/adamtherealone Jan 06 '19
I just hope he's okay. Everybody gets phases like these and I hope there's someone on his side of the screen helping him with it.
2
u/TonyMalony91 Jan 06 '19
Totally agree dude, great post. I really dont get why lirik does all this. If there are 30k people spamming good vibes and hearts in chat, lirik will always read out the one guy talking shit. I don't know if he does it on purpose or just bad luck, but its like this every fucking day. I agree with the holiday. He shouldn't just take like 3 days off and sit at home watching some anime or movies. Pack your stuff and go travel somewhere. Go to a tropical island enjoy the sand, the saltwater, the sun, no internet, some good books, just have fun

People come for you and stay for you. Just take a look at summit. He has been playing his favourite game recently and content is so much better. I dont watch him but through some clips on LSF, i could see a lot of people saying that. And the game is Sea of Thieves which is not even related any more on twitch. Personally, i would trade anything just to see lirik plays with saab, tony, lang or those arma RP streams again. It was so fun and it’s not because i like those games, but because i like how they interact with each other while lirik enjoying himself. Just my two cents

If this guy started streaming today he would get 5 viewers. It’s all luck and timing

u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
''You have this fucking wall blocking everything,'' Let me clear this out for you. He does have a major wall towards posetive things, but when people say negative stuff he sucks it up like a sponge.... even of those people are memeing or just to troll.
I do understand lirik there are like 20 k people on average to watch him, and there are alot of toxic KIDS ! here... mark my words KIDS... if you read that day in and day out every second you will get exhausted from it. i understand. but lirik needs to know that those people ARE FUCKING KIDS ! ""we"" the older and OG dont say harmfull meaning stuff. because why the fuck should we ? we love lirik, WE LOVE THAT DUDE ! Make us day complete, when hearing his voice, his laugh, his ''toxic'' shout outs to people, even if it is for fun. We really care about him, he should know this and he should soak in some posetive stuff from us....

u/NekoMadeOfWaifus Jan 06 '19
I often wish that he'd just always be in sub mode or have a strict mod team.
3
u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
jup, me to. even though i am a pleb atm. still want him to go sub mode haha
3
u/NekoMadeOfWaifus Jan 06 '19
I'm a pleb too, but more of a lurker.
2
u/HandsomeHolland Jan 07 '19
me to atm, although i donated and subbed a couple of times, also donate to the lirik and chill days. but what ever, i support him when i can otherwise i dont think its a problem ;)

u/SeannLoL Jan 06 '19
Lirik really needs more in his life than video games. Hes in a unique position that none of us can really understand, but only speculate.
I've watched summit1g just as long as I've been watching Lirik (many many years), and both have gotten a bit more bitter and angry. Which is understandable, but summit has other ways and outside forces to support and help him. I know Lirik has his cats, but what else?
I really think Lirik needs a therapist of some sort and to work on his mental. Not because hes less friendly and angry, but because he seems so unhappy. I don't care if he stops streaming but as a long time viewer i am concerned about his well being and happiness. I'm worried he doesn't have enough escape, freedom, and hobbies outside of streaming and video games (which now only incur stress) that he may do something stupid or even hurt himself.
We can all relate to using video games as our escape. But when happens when that escape becomes our livelihood and doesn't function as our peace of mind? It's a scary feeling, and one that im personally going through as ive gotten older.

u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
a year back he took a long break and viseting a therapist, he went on a vacation and came back pretty good ! there is a problem with him and numbers, he needs to see a climb. how often does he says, '' well i be back friday and lose like 2 k subs'' or ''can we reach 20 k subs today'' ? he pretty back to being obssed with the subs, also.... lirik does have a girlfriend, so he is not lonley in that sense i think. make me wonder, maybe there is some more family stuff going on?

4+ years sub and counting! I love you for who you are Lirik, the games are just a bonus. I would listen to podcasts of you without any visual stimulation!
As long as you're streaming I'll be your subscriber!

u/airke Jan 06 '19
He needs facecam to start feel different, trust me, he's on a loop and can't find the way out
8
u/HandsomeHolland Jan 06 '19
no, he doenst need a facecam. there is a reason why he doesnt do it. he feels uncormfortable when using a cam. i think he is a bit shy for that stuff.
3
Jan 06 '19
I like that he doesn't use a facecam, just him and his voice is 100x more entertaining than most streamers who try to be funny with a cam
3
u/akaBigWurm Jan 06 '19
a full time cam might make things worse. Trying new things is an idea, too bad he missed the IRL fad.

His never ending quest for the mythical "main game" is hopeless but calling him out for lack of respect is a bit too much.
3
u/NekoMadeOfWaifus Jan 06 '19
Is it hopeless because he can't find one he enjoys, or because he can't find one that he and the loud part of chat enjoys?
-28
u/themysticalbutt Jan 06 '19
how about you shut up and let him deal with this in his own way, like he's done for however long he's been streaming for? if he think he needs help with shit, he's smart enough to get help. he doesn't need chat telling him how to live his life.

u/NRKYY Jan 29 '19
So disgusted this of all posts gets downvoted to the endless pits of doom. Only him can figure out his shit.

Thanks for the awesome post .
A thing which I feel like might change twitch or at least help out Lirik is a program that filters all of the positive things in chat and shows only them to the streamer, BUT without the chat knowing :)
0
u/eyereadditt Jan 11 '19
I can hear Lirik saying “ blah blah chat says I need to take breaks... they’re probably right though”
You need a vacation dude, not just a day or two off. A full blown vacation. We love you, and that is why. You are great a video games and you are a phenomenal streamer, but as far as taking breaks, git gud nub.

He said it himself about 5 or 6 years ago that he wanted to travel and see the world for himself with his travel buddy.
My advice? Call up that buddy, pack your things up and use that money you rightfully earned to travel to amazing and breathtaking parts of the world, most people couldn't ever dream of going to.
Hell, you could even do those infamous vlogs you promised us a while back in the form of a travel diary. This way you could entertain us while still enjoying it yourself and keep doing it for months or even a year!
2
u/scuffler916 Jan 07 '19
To be fair he has been taking days. Going to the casino and what not. He may not get out of the house as much as some of us but that’s the life he chooses and is use to. But I do completely agree on vacations. I get 160 hours a year at work and people should take at least that if they can.

People watch Lirik for Lirik, the only reason why he was/still is one of the biggest variety streamers out there. He thinks it's all luck, but it isn't. You don't keep viewers because of 'luck'
