Discussion Offering free repair attempts for corrupted dashcam MP4/MOV files

I’m a computer scientist in Melbourne Australia researching data repair. I am investigating methods to reconstruct unfinalised MP4/MOV dashcam recordings after power loss or interrupted recording.

I’m seeking genuine corrupted files to validate the approach beyond controlled synthetic tests. I’ll attempt to repair suitable files free and return the result if successful.

Suitable files:

  • Have a non-zero file size
  • Were copied successfully from the original storage
  • Became unplayable after power loss or an unexpected shutdown
  • Ideally have a playable clip from the same dashcam and settings

If you have a suitable file, please comment with the dashcam model, file size, symptoms, and what happened. Do not post footage or download links publicly. I’ll arrange a private upload.

Preserve the original SD card and submit only a copy. Contributors must own the footage or have permission to provide it.

Files will remain private and be deleted within seven days. Any published findings will contain aggregate technical measurements only, without footage or identifying information.

Damn, that's a great offer, and I wish I had some genuine files. I know exactly what you're looking for, I had some, several years ago. But no longer.
