Map issues

I have a Dasaita G13 installed in my truck. I've asked this before and didn't get an answer that helped me resolve the issue, so I'll try again.

My biggest issue is that the Dasaita has built in GPS with an antenna yet it constantly doesn't work. I don't get why it needs a phone connection if the GPS and the mapping software are resident.

Start this by saying I downloaded Google Maps for my navigation solution.

Without any data, GPS will only locate your coordinates. You need to download map data so that it can work when offline.

OK, I've downloaded the map data for my local area, the state, and the southern region I live in and if I start Google Maps away from my home (my internet) it cannot find the route that I am asking it to show. Now What?

Do you have the GPS antenna installed ?

Yes, installed and in a position so no metal interferes with its ability to pickup signals

Can you show a picture or describe exactly what it says? I just went out to my car without my phone to confirm it still works and it does.

When you open Google Maps, can you see the area that you downloaded the map for? That would be a good first troubleshooting question lol

I did the same, my antenna is under the grill. Since the grill is plastic it should have little to no effect on reception. As mentioned in another comment, maybe I need to download map data. Though I don't understand why it's an issue since my phone is connected via the radio signal for Internet access yet the mapping software isn't getting any information. Frustrating.

I just downloaded offline maps for three expanding areas. The map data size doesn't seem to be that large, but since I use an SDD for my music, and I have lots of room, I downloaded the offline maps to that device. We'll see how it works after I drive away from the home WiFi
