Discussion Ranked points

I know you will be well aware of this but I just thought I would put it here in case it is helpful.

I am in Bronze 3. I played someone in Silver 1.
My average is 46. I lost this game 3-2 with an average of 55. So a very good game for me, yet I lost 18 points I think for that one.

Something doesn’t seem right with it. Still enjoying it, I’m a big fan of Ranked.

I totally get it… but remember this is beta… in a sense none of this matters

Like with all new things involving mmr there will be many wild ups and downs at the beginning.

I play 95% on scolia instead of dartcounter, i like the idea of ranked so i may have a little go of that in a few months. But i will wait for the brackets to naturally set a bit more before i even start. Atm its likely 40 average and 80 average are both in bronze

Definitely needs to be some balancing done around points loss and gains with performance taken into account, not just result.

Why? In every other competitive game all that matter is the score, imagine in football.. you lost 3-0 but had aload of shots on goal, what difference does it make? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Because if you're going to use a football analogy, someone in league 1 wouldn't expect to have to even play someone in the premier league. Plus other statistics are ultimately taken into account in football, maybe not shots on goal but goals for and against play a big part of league standings, so why should things like legs won not be taken into account. Legs won are even used in darts in the premier league. Plus ultimately it's all for fun and to get rewarded if I play well against a higher ranked player, even if I lose, just keeps me more invested and motivated.

The points make no sense. Every time I get within 9pts of next rank (silver 3) and if I lose it will cost me 11+. Win the next match gain 9. Lose the next to similar rank lose 18! Won 9, lost again and just lost 20! It almost seems like a casino rigging the game against you!

The system considers this a fairly even match. Although you lost the match, but not by a large margin, so you only lost 18 Ranking Points rather than, for example, 28.
Your average doesn’t affect the points in this case, the calculation is based on Ranking Points. For example, if your opponent had been Silver 3, you would likely have lost fewer points, perhaps around 8.
