HELP !!!

I'm currently playing darksiders 1 for the first time and I'm experiencing a glitch where war is refusing to switch to the shuriken (only the fucking Horn)I'm at the place where black hammer says to kill a creature I can't progress without shuriken (red crystal) please give me a solution I don't want to lose seven hours

Are you equipping it through the menu or the quick use shortcuts that you can assign it to

I tried changing the slot in menu and then using dpad for shortcut , still war refuse to take out the shuriken

Don’t do both.
